As soon as we all stumbled back to our humble campsite, the exhaustion of the day's exhilarating events hit us like a ton of bricks. We collapsed into our cozy tents, the soft rustling of wind against canvas lulling us into a deep, dreamless sleep. The following morning, I awoke with bleary eyes and a sense of disorientation, only to be immediately bombarded with a relentless flurry of questions
"Step back and give them some space," Bellamy's authoritative voice reverberated through the camp, causing the onlookers to reluctantly withdraw, forming a respectful perimeter around us.
"we'll try to answer your questions once we've had breakfast," I asserted with a sense of determination, my tone brooking no argument. Yet, a handful of inquisitive minds remained, their curiosity palpable as they hovered on the fringe, eager for insight.
After our meal, Bellamy corralled everyone to the entrance of the drop ship, where Raven, Octavia, Wells, and I stood. I rolled up my sleeve to reveal the brand, a symbol marking our membership in the coalition.
"This brand signifies we are a part of the coalition. Everything I hoped to achieve during negotiations has happened, 10 people at a time will travel to polis and become someone's apprentice, they call it a seken, there you will learn a new skill or add on to a skill we need to function as a clan, for example, harper she enjoys hunting so her teacher or fos as they call it will be a hunter whether that is using a bow or sword will depend on harper but everyone understands" I explained, observing a mix of excitement and uncertainty among the crowd.
"Each of you will have specialized roles within our camp, tailoring your training accordingly. Each clan's chief has generals who lead that clan's army or warriors, Octavia will serve as my general, apprenticing under General Indra from Tondc. In addition to mastering your craft, you will delve into Learning the language named Trigedasleng and their culture. The group of ten will spend two intense months learning before rotating with a new batch until everyone secures a mentor. Those unable to return with their mentor must remain until sufficiently skilled to operate independently. Once accomplished, they'll contribute to the clan with their newfound expertise. Any questions" Almost everyone raises their hands
I start at the front, "Does that mean we do not have to leave our camp, our home" I look for Octavia's counsel.
"we should tell them so we can train them together" she advises, and I follow her guidance.
"trikru has given us some of their undesired land, it is the land around Mount Weather however there is a condition to living on this land, people are living within Mount Weather, the leaders are not good people they steal grounders and take their blood to the extent of killing them they also turn them into reapers which are cannibalistic killing machine, the commander worries they might try the same thing with us but I pointed out that if they're not living on the ground they must not be able to and I worry they might take us for our bone marrow which might allow them to living on the ground. the condition I was talking about is before we take the land around Mount Weather we need to help stop the mountain from doing these horrible things to the coalition"
"They want us to fight the people in Mount Weather!" someone from the crowd roared angrily, their voice echoing across the campsite littered with tents. The fiery insistence in their tone sent a surge of tension through the air, sparking a palpable sense of adventure and defiance among those gathered around.
"if they had our people locked up we would be trying everything we can to get them out so we will do it for the coalition people which we are now a part of" My tone is no argument
As the crowd absorbed the shocking revelation about Mount Weather, murmurs and questions filled the air. I could see the mix of fear and determination in their eyes, a reflection of the weight of the task ahead.
One person raised their hand tentatively, "How do we know we can trust the Commander and the coalition? What if they turn on us?"
I met their gaze, understanding their apprehension. "Trust is earned, not given freely. But the Commander has shown her commitment to peace and unity among the clans. We must believe in the greater good and work towards a future where we can coexist without fear."
Another voice chimed in, "What if we're not strong enough to take on Mount Weather? We're just a small group."
I nodded, acknowledging their concern. "Strength comes in unity. Together, we can overcome any obstacle. We will train, strategize, and fight with all our might to protect our people and put an end to the atrocities of Mount Weather but remember we won't be alone the commander has promised an army will assist with taking down the mountain."
The crowd seemed reassured by my words, a sense of determination replacing their initial doubts. I could see it in their eyes - a spark of hope ignited by my bold declaration, their faces alight with newfound courage.
"not everything has been planned out but know not all of you will be taken into the mountain to fight, only to best of you who can use the rifles with precision, a group of fifteen at most" Many look releaved but for those who Bellamy and I trained personality look nervous
As the group processed the weight of their upcoming mission, a voice rang out from the crowd, breaking the tense silence. "What will our clan name be? Are we going to be known as the Sky People or something else?"
Octavia, Raven Wells and I all smile at each other, feeling a sense of pride swell within ourselves.
"Our clan shall be known as the Sky Valley Clan," I announced, hearing a few gasps and whispers of approval ripple through the crowd."
Later that day, we witnessed the thrilling moment of the first exodus ship launching towards Earth. unknown to everyone but one, there was a system crash within Mount Weather which lasted long enough for the exodus to land near Raven's escape pod and preventing Mount Weather from crashing it
I stood alongside Bellamy and Onya, the Trikru representative, and a group of 10 warriors hidden in the trees, witnessing the thrilling moment when the exodus ship safely touched down on Earth.
With a sense of excitement buzzing through my veins, I took the lead, guiding Bellamy and Onya while her warriors remained concealed above, save for her Seken Tris who approached the opening door with caution.
The moment the ship's hold was opened, my eyes met the sharp gazes of the guards standing vigil.
A sudden shout pierced the air, igniting a rush of adrenaline as they burst forth, guns drawn and poised menacingly in our direction. The metallic gleam of their weapons seemed to accentuate the tension in the air, a stark reminder of the danger that awaited us.
"put your weapons down" They all seemed to freeze, "now that's an order" my stern voice seemed to knock some sense into them
"you heard the major, put your weapons down" Lieutenant white spoke out coming to the front
"yes, major ward" All but five guards followed our commands
"Chancellor Jaha said Orella Ward was stripped of her rank and for her orders not to be followed" Major Bryant said looking conflicted
"Chancellor Jaha isn't here, on earth, I am in charge until he rejoins us, Ark guards you to disregard any orders Chancellor Jaha gave while still on the ark"
"yes Major ward" Again all but 5 guards answered
"let's get our people out of the ship" The guards follow my command bar the 5 guards who stand to the side. They bring all six hundred ark citizens to the Earth floor
"Welcome to earth, some of you know me as Major Orella Ward but most will know me as the Skai Champion" whispers erupt from the large crowd
"Until the whole council and chancellor join us, I am in charge of all-sky people, to my left is Bellamy Blake he is my co-leader of the one hundred kids, to my right is Anya Kom Trikru, she is a trikru general and is a representative of all trikru whose land we are currently on she is personal serves the commander who leaders all 13 clans so she is not to be messed with, to Anya's right is her apprentice or seken her name is tris kom trikru she is also not to be messed with" I pause looking over the crowd recognising many of there face
"the 100's camp is about an hour's walk from here if you know where you are going, there is not enough space for all 100 of you there, so you will need to make camp around here" I go to continue speaking but someone interrupts me
"When can we see our children" I recognise her voice and am glad she is here
"I will organise for you all to see your children Mrs. Green but for now we must set up camp and begin building a wall around camp" I turn to onya whose stern face does not look impressed
"Will Trikru help build the wall onya" She looks at me, i can tell she wants to say no but nods
"Sha, we will the sky people" she whistles, 8 giant trikru warriors descend from the trees
"lower your weapons, there trikru warriors are here to help you" They slowly do
As the sun hung high in the late afternoon sky, we began the task of setting up our tents. I urged everyone to share or to find refuge in the exodus ship if necessary.
Bellamy and I offered our assistance, but my main goal was to empower them to be self-sufficient and not rely on constant supervision. The air buzzed with anticipation as we worked together, the vibrant colours of the tents contrasting against the vast, open landscape stretching out before us.
"Lieutenant White" I call him to my side
"yes, major ward"
"I understand Major Bryant is in charge but she doesn't seem to want to cooperate with me, you are my most trusted guard on the ark so I'm leaving you in charge, work with Major Bryant not against her and use this channel to talk with my camp" he nods taking the radio, I leave him and go talk with major Bryant
"Major Bryant" Hearing my voice she turns to me
"Ward" her face stern, I smile letting this insult to my rank go
"I'm leaving Lieutenant white in charge, apart from your four, the other guards will follow his lead, you're not going to win this as I recruited most of them to help me on the ark as the skai champion but as the ranking officers I implore you to work with him, not against him, there are 100 of you, one person can not lead them all please think about what I have said"
I whistle getting everyone's attention, "Night will fall soon, so I have to get back to my camp, I'm leaving Lieutenant white and Major Bryant in charge, Lieutenant white has a radio if anyone needs to speak with me ask him, I will be back tomorrow with every name on this list, good night everyone" the camp falls away continuing there tasks at hand
We readied ourselves for departure. Just as we were about to set off, Abby Griffin grabbed my arm, her eyes gleaming with determination.
"I want to come with you" I give her a small smile
"People need you here Abby, You are one of the only doctors as I said I will be back tomorrow and I'll be bringing Clarke"
"What about the 100? They need a doctor," she exclaimed, her voice urgent as the scorching sun beat down on us.
"We're in luck with Clarke on our side; she's proven herself to be incredibly skilled. And with a Trikru healer passing on their knowledge to her, we're blessed to have some medical expertise among us." I command one of the guards to keep a watchful eye on Abby, ensuring she doesn't attempt to tail our departure back to camp.
