Synopsis
It's all over. Cain watches as his so-called leader, friend and hero, Theo, walks away after stabbing him, leaving him for dead. He trusted him, but in return, all he received was death. As the blood drips over his eyes and his vision blurs, he hears a voice. " Child, do you seek revenge on your enemies? I can help you, be my warrior, and I can make all your wishes come true" A screen pops up, hovering in the air. >> Join Game?

Chapter 1 - Left to die

" I am sorry it has to end this way, Cain"

Theo stands before me, spear through my chest. Me has a sad look in his eyes, the irony of the situation after being comrades for so long, fighting the same battle together and finally killing the demon king. As a result, all I got was betrayal.

"Why, Theo, after all we have been through?"

I cough up blood as he pierces the spear deeper into my chest. Without a word, he pushes me back as I fall, leaning back onto the spear, as the blood drips from the blade that hits the ground. I am spiked halfway through the spear, tilted back midair, as I hear him walk away. The blood fresh from my wound drips down my neck and onto my face.

Ah, is this how it all ends after all? Alone again before we all gathered..... I wish I had never met that man. I wish I had not sacrificed so much for him, even giving up my arm for him, saving him from the Demon King. I should have just let him die.

I cough up more blood as it spills over my face and into my eyes. The world turns red. In my inevitable last moments of being abandoned, I close my eyes, cursing Theo as I die.

" Child, why are you in such a hurry to die? Are you willing to accept this fate that someone else decided to write for you?"

I open my eyes, blood streaming as I blink. No one is there. I must be going crazy in the last moments of my life.

" No child, you are not going crazy", the voice bellows again, and I realise it's inside my head.

" I can help you. Do you not want to live? Do you not want revenge on the man who destroyed your fate and condemned you to this one?" I hear the voice echo louder and louder in my head, getting more and more excited.

" Wh--" I choke on the blood, unable to bring words out of my mouth, drowning in my own blood.

As if able to understand what I am thinking it replies, " Your species calls me a Devil. Someone who can grant your wish..... but in exchange, you have to play my game and the fee is your soul."

The Devil?? How the hell is this happening? Is this real? Can I really live?

My mind rushes with multiple questions, not knowing what to focus on, as the throbbing pain gets worse, numbing my body, and going cold.

"Not much time left, my child. It's your choice to die as you are forgotten and betrayed, or accept my offer and destroy all who pushed you away and destroyed you. Better be quick before it's too late"

A translucent red boxlike image appears before my eyes as I try to blink away the blood. With my remaining arm, I try to wipe it away, not doing any better as it's covered in blood too.

I manage to read the words ever so slightly. I guess this is the game the Devil was talking about.

Can I really trust the Devil?  I think to myself, but feeling the state I was in alone after helping the group kill the Demon Lord, after sacrificing my arm for his life, all the pain, tragedy and hardship we went through, only for me to be left to die after being used. I thought I had finally found people who understood me, especially Theo, but it was all lies.

I lift my arm up slowly, determined to live through this ordeal.

I am not ready to die!

With my last remaining strength, I press on, yes, and the world dims away, descending into darkness.
