Chapter 2 - Corrected Justice

The marble steps of the courthouse still held the echo of shoes—the ones that mattered. Reporters, protesters, police, and passersby were gone. Only silence remained. Except for that one vehicle.

There are still cars that cause a sensation when they are seen. Just a few minutes before, a land rover had passed by and to the residents of Harare it just meant Bruce had won another case. Besides his presence alone in town meant some criminal had walked free. A lot of people had been following the case of the doctor who allegedly killed his wife and to the dismay of a lot of netizens, Bruce had done his magic correctly, embarrassing the Protectorate as usual.

Dr Moyo had become famous after the Protectorate had charged him with first degree murder of his wife after she had filed for divorce. Moyo had called 911 and the paramedics had arrived to find his wife still alive. He had reportedly found his wife stabbed in the kitchen and he had pulled out the knife and teied to save her. However he had had no alibi and the divorce filed had been used against him as evidence against him. He could not be charged with anything found on the scene as he had tried to save his wife. The cops arrested him because of lack of alibi

The matte-black Land Rover idled at the curb like a resting predator, engine humming low. Inside, Bruce Voss was calm. Not relieved—he never needed to be. He adjusted his cuffs, wiped imaginary lint off his Italian blazer, and glanced at his client slumped beside him.

Dr. Moyo's hands were trembling. He had just been acquitted of murdering his wife. The verdict had landed like thunder in the courtroom—Not Guilty—and now the man who called 911, who pressed his palms against his dying wife's wound, who had been arrested solely because no one else could be blamed… was free.

Moyo wiped tears. "Bruce… I don't know how. You saved my life."

Bruce didn't look at him. "I did what I has to do . I corrected the system," he said simply.

They drove away
