System Y-01 moved quickly and sent a large stack of information directly to her light brain. Minara opened it eagerly, but after a moment, her smile slowly disappeared.
She could recognize each word, but together they made no sense at all. "I suggest the host study existing knowledge first, otherwise this information will be hard to understand," System Y-01 said kindly.
Minara's excited brain cooled down immediately. It seemed like she needed to build a foundation first.
She sighed and obediently opened her light brain to browse information on the web. She planned to enroll in an online school.
Interstellar education was very advanced and many schools offered online courses to the public. As long as one passed the exams, they could receive certificates from those schools.
This was very convenient for Minara since she needed to take care of the kittens and had no time to attend school in person. While Minara was seriously studying, the egg on the bed shook slightly.
The complex patterns on it flickered for a moment. A sleeping man sensed the hope inside Minara and was instinctively drawn to warmth after constantly feeling the world's darkness.
The large egg slowly rolled toward Minara. It rolled and then suddenly dropped to the floor with a crisp sound.
Minara was startled and quickly picked it up to check. "Oh no, please don't break, what if something bad happens?"
Seeing that the shell was still intact, she let out a sigh of relief. It seemed to be unharmed.
"Host, the egg is very strong, even an explosion wouldn't damage it." System Y-01 reminded her after seeing how worried she was.
It had taken the egg out of a research lab after an explosion. "Good, that's a relief."
Minara thought for a moment and decided to place the egg by her side so she could watch over it at any time. She found a small blanket, folded it neatly, placed the egg on it, then continued her studies.
She didn't notice that the egg wobbled ever so slightly again. After reading for a while, Minara searched online for the best schools and created a study plan.
Seeing it was already night, she began preparing dinner for the kittens. In the yard, the three were playing with joy.
They had never seen these toys before, only soft dolls to cuddle while sleeping. Tunoo had endless energy and kept leaping up and down.
Minara had hung little decorations on the edge of the floating board and Tunoo was happily jumping to reach them. Even falling didn't bother Tunoo, just a roll and then back up again full of spirit.
Twix was calmer and lay quietly on the highest platform, watching the scenery. When tired, Twix went to Trevor, rubbing and snuggling.
Trevor also pampered Twix with care. Whenever Twix came over, Trevor would lick the fur gently.
Twix purred softly with squinted eyes and slowly fell asleep leaning against Trevor. Twix was fast asleep and softly purring.
Trevor stayed still, not daring to move, allowing Twix to sleep peacefully. After Tunoo played enough, it also lay down beside Trevor.
Tunoo rubbed its head against Trevor with affection. Trevor slowly lifted a paw to pat Tunoo's head.
Tunoo happily lay beside Trevor. Not long after, it too drifted into sleep.
When Minara came out, she saw the three cuddled together sleeping soundly. Tunoo and Twix were on top of Trevor, resting peacefully.
Minara smiled and shook her head. She didn't wake them and quietly prepared dinner.
Only after everything was ready did she gently push them awake. The three kittens' ears twitched as they slowly opened their eyes.
Their eyes were soft and dazed as they stared at her together. Their expressions were perfectly in sync.
Minara couldn't help but laugh. "Come on, time to eat."
Hearing her, they shook themselves and jumped down from the cat tree to the living room. Dinner was still rich and delicious.
Minara was determined to take good care of them and put great effort into each meal. She wanted them to grow strong and healthy.
After dinner, Tunoo and Twix clung to her and didn't want to sleep. Minara smiled gently and played with them.
She also dragged Trevor to join, ignoring his resistance. One small ball kept all three playing excitedly.
Because Trevor was too strong, Tunoo and Twix teamed up to challenge him. Trevor rarely played, but today he got swept into the fun.
Inside the small room, cat fur flew everywhere. Watching their lively and adorable play, Minara couldn't stop smiling.
In the end, Tunoo and Twix were too tired to sit up. They nodded off, swaying while trying to keep their eyes open.
Minara carried them into the bedroom. As soon as she placed them on the bed, they hugged each other and instantly slept more soundly.
After tucking them in, Minara looked over at Trevor. Trevor had returned to his usual calm self.
Minara patted his head. "Trevor, did you have fun today?"
Trevor tilted his head and thought about the day. Playing on the cat tower, wrestling with the others, and eating tasty food made today feel very different from the past.
"Meow, Trevor is happy." Minara smiled as she petted him.
"Things will only get better." After this time together, Trevor had started to truly believe in Minara.
He looked at her and said, "Meow, I believe you." Then he quickly hid under the blanket, hugging Tunoo and Twix, closing his eyes.
Such shy cuteness. Minara gently patted his head and quietly closed the door.
Soon, Trevor was fast asleep. The corners of his mouth lifted in a small smile.
No one knew what kind of dream he was having.
"Meow, good morning, Granny Mary!"
Early in the morning, before anyone else was on the street, Trevor arrived in front of a shop and lightly jumped onto the counter, greeting the busy old lady inside. "Oh, it's Trevor!" Granny Mary turned around. She wore a complex and elegant dress, her white hair neatly combed, and a pair of glasses perched on her nose. Her face looked kind.
She glanced at Trevor on the counter, noticing he seemed livelier than before. "Meow! Good morning, Granny Mary!" came a childish voice from below.
Little Tunoo had front paws on the counter, poking their head up. Their fluffy fur swayed slightly, and a strand of black hair stood out noticeably. Granny Mary saw the struggle and gently lifted Tunoo onto the counter.
"Thank you, Granny Mary." After being picked up, Tunoo fiddled with the fur on their head using front paws and spoke seriously. "You're welcome, you're welcome. You've grown a little more, and even more handsome!"
Granny Mary looked Tunoo over carefully. The fur was smooth, the eyes bright and full of energy. Tunoo proudly puffed up their chest.
"Granny Mary, don't you think the black hair on my head looks extra cool too?" "Looks like the new director is taking really good care of you all!"
Granny Mary smiled warmly. A few days ago, the old director passed away.
They had been caring for the three little cats since then. Back then, the kittens were depressed and cautious around people.
Who would have thought, in such a short time, the three kids would be this well-fed and lively. Not only had they gained weight, but their spirits had improved too.
"Our big sister is very kind," Trevor said, flicking his tail. "Yes, she treats us very well. She buys us yummy food and makes fun toys for us!"
Tunoo echoed in their baby voice, nodding their little head. Looking absolutely adorable, they made Granny Mary's eyes fill with laughter.
It seemed she would like to meet this new director when she had time. "Granny Mary, do you still have those little flatbreads?"
After chatting for a while, Trevor suddenly remembered the reason for his visit and quickly asked. "Yes! Just freshly made!"
Granny Mary turned and brought out a big plate of flatbreads. "I'd like 100 of the ones that cost one credit each," Trevor said while transferring the money to her.
"Little Trevor, since when have I ever charged you?" Granny Mary firmly refused. All the shopkeepers around here took good care of the orphanage kids, often giving them snacks and treats.
"Meow, we should pay for it!" Trevor insisted, completing the transfer. Seeing Granny Mary was still reluctant, he tilted his head and added, "Our sister has lots of money. Granny Mary doesn't need to worry about us. Meow!"
Seeing how determined he was, Granny Mary gave in and simply snuck in a few extra flatbreads. Then she patted his head.
"You've grown up, Trevor." Trevor curled the corners of his mouth.
Grown up? He felt like he'd been spoiled lately. "Granny Mary, we're heading off now!"
Remembering they had more to buy, Trevor politely said goodbye. "Come visit Granny sometime when you're free!"
Granny Mary smiled kindly and invited them over. "We will, Granny Mary!"
Trevor waved his paw, placed the flatbreads into the basket floating beside him, and jumped off to go to another store. Tunoo followed, a flatbread from Granny Mary in their mouth.
They took a big bite, swallowed it whole, smacked their lips to savor the flavor, and happily trotted after. This was the first mission Minara had given Trevor.
He had to complete it perfectly. With that in mind, Trevor focused even more as he followed the list to buy everything they needed.
After making a full round through the street and finishing all the shopping, Trevor carefully checked the list again. Then he skipped happily on his way back.
"Sis, we're back, meow!" Trevor pushed the basket of items in front of Minara and sat neatly on the ground. His front paws were together, and his fluffy big tail wrapped around to rest on them.
His ears stood up and twitched constantly. Though his gaze seemed calm, he kept sneaking peeks at Minara.
He acted reserved and aloof, but his whole posture was screaming: Praise me. Praise me. Minara looked at his expression and secretly laughed.
She stroked his fur and praised him sincerely. "Trevor, you did great. You bought everything correctly."
"You're really capable!" Trevor lifted his little chin slightly, proud and modest. He looked absolutely adorable.
"Since Trevor is so capable, can you help me sort these materials?" She pointed to the items on the ground. "Of course I can, meow!"
Hearing that she needed his help, Trevor's eyes lit up and he responded enthusiastically. Minara smiled as she taught him how to sort the materials.
Watching him seriously separate the items, she nodded to herself. It looked like letting Trevor help and praising him more really worked.
Unlike the two younger ones, Trevor wasn't so easily coaxed. He knew his condition and feared he might become useless one day.
That made him feel inferior, like he had no value. Minara was slowly building his confidence now.
She was making toys suitable for feline creatures. They had cute designs and bright colors, which made them popular with little cubs.
She could sell some online every month, which was enough to cover their living expenses. While she was focused on her work, the sound of Tunoo and Twix playing interrupted her.
Minara glanced over and nearly lost her soul. She accidentally snapped the material in her hand.
Tunoo and Twix were playing soccer with a round ball, and that ball was actually the egg. The egg!
The light blue egg was being kicked around by the two cats. It rolled here and there, occasionally hitting the wall and bouncing back.
Minara's eyelids twitched hard. She quickly rushed over to stop them.
"Tunoo, Twix, that egg is not a toy. You can't play with it!" Minara scolded them seriously.
Twix tilted their head, amber eyes full of longing as they looked at the egg. "Okay, big sister. We won't play with it anymore," they meowed.
Minara handed them a cat toy ball. "You can play with this instead." "That whole egg is your little brother."
"He'll be coming out soon." She stroked the patterns on the egg as she spoke.
Little brother! Tunoo and Twix's eyes lit up instantly.
They were about to have a little brother and excitedly asked, "When will he come out?" "Should be soon," Minara said thoughtfully.
She had already been here for over a month. The egg should hatch soon.
The longest hatching time for beastfolk was only two months. "When our little brother comes out, we'll take good care of him."
"We'll let him play with all our toys," the two kittens said in their baby voices. Tunoo raised a paw and retracted the claws.
They gently patted the egg. "Little brother, come out soon. We'll all like you."
The egg wobbled slightly, as if answering from inside.
