"As for dreams, it's more like ambition. I want to revive the Uchiha clan, and I will kill that man!" Sasuke declared.
Kakashi's face darkened at Sasuke's words. "Kazama, the guy Sasuke wants to kill… it's not you, is it?"
"Uh… probably not," Kazama replied, feeling a bit speechless at Naruto's question.
"I like…" Sakura began, sneaking a glance at Sasuke. "And I hate two people: Naruto and Kazama."
Hearing his crush say this, Naruto's face fell, clearly heartbroken.
"Your turn, Kazama," Kakashi prompted.
"What I like most is hanging out with Naruto," Kazama said with a grin.
"Iron bros!" Naruto cheered, nodding enthusiastically at Kazama.
"And I can't stand icy jerks and fangirls!" Kazama added.
"Jerk!" Sasuke and Sakura thought simultaneously, glaring at him.
"My dream is to one day kill Danzō and avenge the Sanada clan!" Kazama declared.
"What?!" Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and even Kakashi gasped in shock.
Everyone in Konoha knew Danzō's status. His power rivaled the Third Hokage's, and he commanded the terrifying Root organization. The idea of Kazama wanting to kill him was almost unthinkable.
Seeing everyone's stunned expressions, Kazama shrugged it off. Normally, you wouldn't blab about revenge plans, but he knew Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi would eventually be on his side, so it didn't matter.
"What kind of team did I get stuck with?!" Kakashi thought, feeling like crying. "Now I get why the Third Hokage told me to protect Kazama. This kid's enemy is Danzō. My heart can't take this!"
With a heavy sigh, Kakashi continued, "Alright, since you've all introduced yourselves, we'll start a mission tomorrow: a wilderness survival exercise. Anyone who fails will be sent back to the Academy."
"What?! I just barely graduated!" Naruto wailed.
"And don't eat breakfast, or you'll regret it," Kakashi added before vanishing with a stylish turn.
The classroom was left with a trembling Naruto, terrified of failing the test, and a Sasuke still reeling from Kazama's bold revenge declaration.
"Good morning, everyone!" Kakashi greeted the next day.
"Morning, my foot! We've been waiting for you half the day!" Naruto roared, his voice echoing through the forest.
"There was this black cat in my way, so…" Kakashi began.
"We're not buying your lame excuses! Late is late!" Naruto snapped, rubbing his growling stomach.
Sasuke and Sakura, also starving from skipping breakfast, looked drained and sluggish. Kazama, on the other hand, was brimming with energy. He'd eaten a hearty meal before coming, confident that with his current strength, snatching Kakashi's bells would be a breeze. No way was he going to suffer through hunger.
"Kakashi's best skills are Raiton (Lightning Release) and his Sharingan. I'll force him to use those moves on me, then absorb them with the Fenjue system for my own use," Kazama schemed.
As he was plotting, Kakashi pulled out two bells. "Your mission is to take these bells from me. Use whatever tricks you've got. If you don't come at me with the intent to kill, you won't stand a chance."
"There's four of us, but only two bells. That means…" Naruto trailed off.
"That means two of you will definitely fail!" Kakashi finished.
"Damn it!" Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura tensed up, the pressure hitting them hard.
Kazama, however, remained completely unfazed, his calm demeanor catching Kakashi's attention.
"This kid isn't shaken by my words. Does he really think he can grab a bell? Alright, let's see what you've got," Kakashi thought.
"Ready…" Kakashi said, hanging the bells on his waist.
"I got it!"
Almost the instant Kakashi spoke, Kazama was already behind him, holding a bell in his hand, strolling out casually.
