The man's name was Kane Lazlow. Rune didn't know much about him, but he was supposedly an S rank adventurer and the only S rank besides Carin that had answered the call to join the subjigation.
Cane put a hand on on the hilt of his sword as if to draw it. Such an act was unacceptable in the presence of the Queen and there were already hidden forces moving to stop him. An invisible wind began to whistle in the throne room and tensions ran high, but before anything could happen, a third party stepped in.
"I think that is enough of that."
Carin appeared before Kane in an instant and lifted him up by the throat. She squeezed hard as he struggled helplessly and her lips twisted into a cruel smile.
"L-let...me...go..!"
She paid him no mind, and look to her left before addressing the empty space. There was nothing there, yet she called out to it nonetheless.
"You can stand down. I'll take care of this. He didn't draw on you guys yet so there should be no problem, right?"
