"Responsibility issue? Me?"
The Emperor of the Empire shrugged, responding lightly and calmly:
"Why?"
"Why?"
The woman with long crimson hair looked puzzled and shocked, taking several seconds to recover.
"The battle wasn't a failure—"
"Failure was expected, considering the circumstances. In fact, winning would have been the strange outcome."
Li Lin turned his head and focused on the documents in front of him, as if in his view, dealing with regular affairs according to a set schedule was more important than being held accountable or Jelas's death in battle.
Indeed, that was the case.
Orgulous and Jelas were not the types to team up well with others. More importantly, they were filled with ideas and ambitions; one could never expect these two to collaborate effectively and complete a task smoothly. It was inevitable that they would trip each other up, and turning simple matters into complex ones by backstabbing, fighting for credit, and plotting was almost unavoidable.
