"Ya sure this was a good idea, Lexi?" Mo worryingly questioned his friend as she marched through town. They were currently on a straight course out of Nogreni. Alix awoke bright and early in the morning and informed her mother that she would walk to the capital which is what Mo was so concerned about.
"I told you that this was the plan for the past two months. You were so excited about it until this morning." Alix admonished. Mo nodded his head but was clearly nervous. "I know but that was before I realized that the direction that we were going was through a rainforest!"
Alix rolled her eyes. "We won't even make it to the rainforest until the end of the week so what are you so worried about? Is it the birds?" Mo flinched.
"Don't say their names! You might summon them from above!" Mo began to anxiously scan the sky for any birds. Alix could not help but laugh at the fish. "So the mighty Mo is actually scared of avians? So that is why you refuse to let me contract with one."
"Whaaat? Noo~ I would never dare to disallow ya from forging bonds just because I'm afraid. I can only highly advise that ya abstain from even getting close to one of those arrogant devils. Or at least bring one of the rats along so that they eat them instead of me." Alix shook her head.
She had imparted the rats to Cas before she left. She was still the one that had contracted with them but it didn't feel right for her to take them out of town. Besides, Cas had continued to show tremendous growth over the past two months.
Regretfully he had not managed to grasp the concepts behind her Omnia Nexus before her departure but it made sense. I mean, she herself had only completed the spell within the week that she met the boy so there was not much that she could help him with.
She looked ahead and realized that they had finally arrived at one of the towns exits. She could barely contain her excitement. She rushed forward, her spell satchel on her hip as well as bag containing other necessities like food, water, and her spell book. She ran forward until she finally passed the final building and official arrived outside of Nogreni.
Alix stood and admired the sight before her. Grassy plains that seemed to extend for miles with monsters in the beast category frolicking about. The wind blew against her causing her hair and clothes to flow slightly as she smiled.
"This is the true beginning of our journey, Mo! The path toward our revenge." Alix spoke with determination. Mo looked at her in bewilderment. "Ya mean yer revenge. It ain't got nothin' to do with me!" Alix rolled her eyes. "You know what I mean. Why am I still holding you anyway? You've learned to free swim for hours at a time."
Mo lifted himself out of his bowl and began to circle her. "When one has a friend that's willing to carry them then let her carry you." Alix put Mo's fishbowl in her bag. There was no water in it now after all so there would be no problem.
"Off we go then, Mo!" Alix ordered.
"Aye Aye, Captain!" With that the two began their journey to Pesinwok.
Alix of course, knew that the path that she was taking would be arduous but she felt that it was that very danger that would allow her to accomplish things that she never could while sitting behind a desk.
Whilst preparing for this day she had still not managed to find out everything that her Omnia Nexus could do and she didn't feel right about bragging about an unknown spell. So she decided to take the longer more difficult journey to hopefully give her the chance to see what the spell was full capable of.
You know, besides the whole flying, fighting, fish debacle. Alix and Mo moved through the plain's outside of Nogreni. There were monsters all around for Alix to use as test subjects and training targets. The only problem being that she did have to be far more cautious with these monsters in comparison to the rats and Mo.
She searched for a bit before settling on having her first target be a deer that she could see frolicking alone. She slowly approached the beast as welcomingly as possible. She moved slowly trying her best to not spook the beast until she finally arrived mere steps away from it.
"Hey there friend." The deer's head quickly twisted as it faced the strange girl talking to it. "I'm here to make a proposition with you. Would you like to hear it? I promise that it will be worth it in the long run." Alix spoke slowly and calmly to show the deer that she meant it no harm.
Her methods seemed to be working as the deer now had it's full attention on the girl. Alix stretched out her hand to touch the deer but it pulled its head back avoiding her. "Calm down. I am just trying to show you that I mean no harm." The deer seemed to understand as it slowly moved its head back toward Alix's hand.
'Almost there.' She began to shake in anticipation. She did not think her first attempt would go this well. Now all she needed to do was activate the spell. She focused her Lis to the tip of her finger and began to activate the null mana when suddenly the deer turned and dashed away from the girl. Alix clicked her teeth in frustration.
"I was so close! Why did it run like that?"
'Uuuuhhh, Lexi?" Mo called in the girl's mind. "What is it Mo? I'm not in a good mood right now." Alix was quite upset with her first test so she hadn't even noticed the nervous undertone Mo's voice.
'About that. I think that I can tell ya why that deer ran away from ya." Alix rolled her eyes. "Oh yeah? Why then?"
'It may be because of the wolf behind ya." Alix sighed. "Oh really, a wolf in the middle of the open plain? Nice try Mo-" Alix turned her head and noticed that standing mere feet away from her was a gray wolf standing ready to pounce at her.
'I apologize for my tone, Mo."
'It's fine, but what do we do?" Alix took a deep breath in. "We fight it and hope that the rest of its pack is not close nearby. Which is highly unlikely."
Mo nodded and began his attack. He fired of two Lightless Streams at the wolf. This was clearly unexpected to the wolf as both streams hit their mark knocking it off balance.
In the moment that it tried to recover Alix was already standing over the wolf and activated "Omnia Faust" finishing the wolf off before it even had a chance. She sighed in relief. "We should move quickly. I would rather not have to run away from a pack of wolves."
"Well then I have some bad new for ya." Alix expression dropped at Mo's warning. "Only one thing to do now! Fight or Flight. And my common sense is telling me that running from wolves is probably not gonna work." Mo looked at the girl sarcastically.
'What makes ya say that? Could it perhaps be the fact that we're in the middle of a giant open field?" Alix nodded. "That would be it. Now be quiet. We need to focus if we want to win this fight." Alix stood beside Mo and stood in a ready stance as four wolves slowly circled her.
What an exciting start to her first adventure!
