Chapter 128 - Chapter 127: The Beheading Demon (1/2)

The surrounding gangsters gathered around, pointing their firearms at them. The dark muzzles of the guns sent chills down their spines.

"Let the child go."

Gwen deactivated her transformation, looking at the wristband in her hand with reluctance. However, she still tossed it to the ground.

"The mother spider has a soft heart. But what about the rest of you?"

The Green Goblin laughed triumphantly.

The other Spider-People exchanged helpless glances before sighing and throwing their web-shooters onto the ground.

Shadow Spider-Man also pulled out a revolver, web grenades, a grappling gun, and electromagnetic web capsules—one by one, he discarded them.

Peni stepped out of her cockpit.

"Oh, you villains in this world are truly despicable, even taking old people and children hostage,"

Spider-Ham muttered, pulling out a comical amount of random junk from his pockets, which clattered onto the ground.

"It seems I've become a burden."

Damian quickly assessed the situation, his voice carrying a hint of frustration.

"I'm sorry, Damian. It's my fault for not protecting you," Gwen said.

"It's okay, Mom Gwen. It's my own weakness."

Damian remained calm, analyzing what he had done wrong this time.

Despite never neglecting his training, his vigilance had dropped significantly.

"Kid, aren't you afraid?"

The Green Goblin curiously lifted Damian up, his beast-like eyes—half the size of Damian himself—staring straight at him.

"Afraid? I've seen beings far stronger than you. Why would I be afraid?"

Damian examined the so-called demon before him, unimpressed by its size.

"Hahaha! Then how about this—ah!"

The Green Goblin let out a maniacal laugh and lifted Damian high into the air, opening his massive, fanged mouth.

The gangsters aimed their weapons at Gwen's back as she rushed forward.

Damian smirked.

Finally, he could see it in action.

"Kill them all! Beheading Demon!"

"As you command."

A black glow erupted from Damian's lower leg.

The next second—

Damian was already safely cradled in Gwen's arms.

Aunt May was carelessly tossed to the ground.

Suddenly, several sharp flashes of light slashed through the air, cutting through the incoming laser blasts. The beams disintegrated before they could reach their targets.

The dark figure that had intercepted the lasers didn't stop. It dashed toward the gangsters.

Amidst the rain of lasers, the figure moved with unnatural agility, weaving through the deadly light. The supposedly fatal beams barely grazed its body.

For the few lasers that were unavoidable, the figure swung its blade without hesitation.

With a sharp "crack," the laser beams shattered upon impact.

The gangsters, terrified, tried to flee.

"He just cut a laser beam! What kind of monster is that?!"

But their fear did not slow the shadow's advance.

On the contrary, the figure sped up, hunting them down.

Its blade carved through the air with chilling precision. Each glint of cold steel was followed by the thud of a severed head hitting the ground.

Blood splattered, dyeing the streets red. The scene became one of pure carnage and horror.

The youngest among them, Peni and Miles, couldn't hold it in and vomited on the spot. The others were just as shaken, their faces deathly pale.

They retrieved their equipment, their eyes filled with fear as they watched the massacre unfold.

The figure was too fast.

They couldn't stop it.

They couldn't even see what it truly looked like.

All they could see were fleeting flashes of steel, hear desperate screams, and watch as life after life was extinguished.

For the first time, they truly understood how fragile life was.

Only after the shadow had slaughtered every gangster within the vicinity did the world fall into a deathly silence.

It was then that the Spider-People finally got a clear look at the figure.

A humanoid being, standing three meters tall, entirely black in color. Two massive bone blades protruded from its arms, still dripping with blood, glistening ominously under the moonlight.

"That was exhilarating! So many souls, so many heads—absolutely satisfying! Keh keh keh..."

The dark figure let out an eerie, bone-chilling laugh. Its voice seemed to crawl out from the depths of hell, making everyone's skin crawl.

Then, as if suddenly remembering something, the Beheading Demon turned its gaze toward the Spider-People.

Slowly, it began walking toward them.

Every fiber in their bodies screamed at them to run.

Their Spider-Senses were ringing like never before, warning them of the imminent threat.

But the Beheading Demon didn't even glance at them.

It walked straight past them.

And then, it kneeled before Gwen and Damian.

"Greetings, Lady Gwen. Greetings, Prince Damian."

Its voice was deep and reverent, its head bowed low.

At that moment, the Green Goblin, who had been frozen in place with his head tilted upward, suddenly had a thin red line appear on his neck.

Then, like a broken dam, blood gushed forth, spraying into the air.

His head slowly slipped from his shoulders.

His lifeless body collapsed onto the ground, kicking up dust.

The Beheading Demon.

In Hell, its strength ranked in the top ten.

Its ability was beheading. Its hobby was beheading. Its dream was also beheading.

Because it constantly challenged other demons, the Assassin League had once tried to behead it—only to fail.

As punishment for its recklessness, it was imprisoned for three hundred years to "teach it a lesson."

Kino, however, saw potential in it.

So, he sent the demon to protect Damian, granting it full permission to kill any enemy it encountered.

"Beheading, return."

"Understood, Your Highness. Call me sooner next time."

The Beheading Demon responded before transforming into a shadow and vanishing into Damian's leg.

Gwen quickly tended to Damian's minor wounds. Then, she turned to the others.

Their eyes held fear, shock, and confusion.

"Let's go somewhere else to talk," Gwen suggested.

"Agreed."

The Spider-People swung into the distance, carrying Aunt May and Damian with them, leaving behind a scene of devastation.

Moments later, Kingpin arrived with his surviving subordinates.

He took in the sight before him—the scattered heads, the lifeless body of the Green Goblin.

His expression darkened so much it seemed he could bleed ink.

"...Kingpin, maybe we should let this go. This time, we might actually die."

Dr. Octopus' voice trembled with fear.

So many of their people had been slaughtered.

Even though they didn't know exactly which Spider-Person had done it, if they continued opposing them, her own head might soon roll as well.

The arrogance she once had was now completely gone, replaced by pure terror and unease.

Tombstone, Scorpion, and the Prowler remained silent.

Why had they kept fighting Spider-Man, despite losing countless times?

Because Spider-Man never killed.

The worst that could happen was ending up in a hospital bed for a few months.

But now—

Among the Spider-People, an anomaly had appeared.

One who killed in the most brutal manner imaginable.

Who wouldn't be afraid?

Fear spread like a disease through their hearts, snuffing out any lingering arrogance.

Dr. Octopus, thinking Kingpin was hesitating, tried to persuade him further.

"Kingpin, we should let them destroy the particle collider and—"

Before she could finish, Kingpin's massive hand wrapped around her slender throat.

Dr. Octopus gasped, struggling desperately as her four mechanical arms lunged to attack him.

Quote of the Chapter:"A blade does not hesitate, nor does it show mercy. It simply severs what must be severed."
