Nathan's POV
I waited until the entire building felt still. Even though I didn't know my way around the mansion, I was determined to find something—anything.
The moon hung high, casting pale silver light across the walls. This was the perfect time to find Pedro and rescue him because at sunrise, he might not be able to defend himself.
My heart pounded violently the entire time. I had no way to protect myself—if trouble came, I couldn't even help myself.
But this wasn't about me. I came here for one reason: to rescue Pedro—and to ask him about Derrick.
There were plenty of reasons I should hate Derrick, but I couldn't stop thinking about him. The same Derrick who treated me so unfairly.
Emotions were strange. I didn't understand how I felt, but I was definitely developing feelings for him.
I didn't know what I was going to do. I had no plan. All I knew was that Pedro might be dead by dawn, and I couldn't let that happen.
