Chapter 1 - 1- New world new problems!

Snapping awake Isaac looked around in a panic, all around him was a endless white void, looking down he saw that he didn't even have a body "What the heck happened?!" he shouted. "Well you died of course." a voice laughed close by and his head snapped over to see who had spoken.

Standing there staring down at him was a woman covered in light "Are you an angel?" Isaac asked stunned at the radiance pouring off of her, "No, but I believe that's the least of your concerns at the moment." she said smiling at him, "Did I die?" he asked feeling sick.

"Yes, you were one of the first casualties of the end of the world, you along with several thousand others." She said stunning Isaac. Not knowing what to say he just sat there slowly coming to terms with his death. After a while he looked back to the woman who had conjured a simple chair and was now seated, "Now what, do I get to reincarnate like in those stories?" he asked and she nodded smiling.

"Yes, since you were the first one to die, you get to reincarnate in a new world, you will also get to choose a few gifts, but depending on what you choose the difficulty of your new world may increase." she said warning him as he sat thinking about what could give him the edge while not screwing him over. "Is there a limit to how many things I can choose?" "You can only choose 3 gifts." she clarified as he started to think some more.

After a bit of thinking Isaac finally thought of what he wanted. "Can I get a system, those always seem useful in the books." he said and she nodded "2 gifts left." 'I should probably get something to keep me alive' he thought as he thought of what he wanted next, "Can I get a really stupid strong healing factor?" "Certainly, though it will be a while until it activates." she said smiling as he nodded, "For my last gift, I want to have a space pocket where I can store all my things." he said and she nodded "That's fine, but the space will be limited to 57,000 sq meters." she said.

Standing up the woman listed the gifts Isaac would get, "One system, a strong healing factor and a space pocket, now that you have selected your gifts you will be taken to your new world, do you best to survive." she said as a large dark purple portal opened behind her and a strange force started to drag Isaac in, "Wait what do you mean survive?" he shouted right before he entered the portal to his new life. "You're gonna need it." the woman said before disappearing from the endless void of white.

After what felt like forever Isaac slowly started to get his bearing, he tried to open his eyes but they felt heavy, his body felt weak but still he struggled. Finally getting his eyes open he looked around and saw a large gate, he tried to move around but looking down he saw that he was wrapped up tight in a blanket, 'Really, I had to start all over again?' he thought as he sighed mentally as the gate opened and someone stepped out.

'Oh it's a nun' he thought as she drew closer to him, before crouching down and picking him up, "Sigh, poor thing, people never want to accept their responsibilities despite these trying times, fear not little one, you will be safe here." she said before taking him inside the gate and closing it behind her. 'man this place looks rough.' he thought as the nun walked through, as he moved his eyes around he saw how empty and dead the ground where, despite it all being tidy and clean, the garden and trees looked dead and devoid of life, looking up at the sky he saw it was dark and cloudy, there where even flashes of lighting as if the sky itself were agitated at him being left there.

Once she made it into the church, Sister Frida took the baby and passed him onto another nun who would take him to where the other infants where, somewhere he would be fed and kept safe from the outside while she went and reported to the Mother Superior. Reaching her office Sister Frida knocked lightly before she was told to come in. Stepping in she went to bow but was stopped, "No need for that Frida, please tell me what brings you here." Mother Iris said and Frida nodded. Mother Iris was a kind woman who had dedicated her life to the church and held great respect within and outside of the church for her efforts to help others. "There was another baby left outside the gate today, he makes the fifth one this week." Frida said as Mother Iris sighed with a look of sadness about her.

"Is the boy healthy, is he safe?" Iris asked and Frida nodded "Yes, I gave him to sister Amy and she is taking care of him as we speak." Iris smiled at that "Good, Amy will take good care of him, we need more people like you and her in this world." she said as Frida smiled, whenever the Mother was happy so where the sisters as she was a true mother to them all. After sitting and talking with Mother Iris for a few more minutes Sister Frida said goodbye and went to attend to her duties as Iris returned to her paperwork but was interrupted again, this time by a ringing noise.

Looking at the number Mother Iris frowned now expecting this man of all people to be calling. "How can I help you Captain Magnus?" she asked as the man on the other end laughed "Please Iris, we've known each other too many years to use things like titles." he said as Iris scrunched her face "I'm busy right now, what to you want?" she said as Magnus finally stopped laughing, "Cypher city has fallen, a massive beast wave took down the city." he said as Iris' eyes went wide with shock "How?! They had several strong experts, did any people make it out alive?" "There were several beast kings, High Command is already organizing to take them out while also reinforcing all nearby cities, as for survivors only a few thousands, the rest were killed or died fighting." he said as Iris gave a quick prayer for the fallen who died so valiantly.

"Why are you telling me this?" she finally asked as Magnus sighed "Because Command is going to start conscription again, despite all you've done they are going to target you as well, so if you want those poor kids to at least have a chance out there, I'd start teaching and training them." he said as Iris sighed, feeling her age more than ever, despite all she had done to save hundreds of thousands of people during the first decades of the war, there were always people in power going after her. "Thanks for the heads up Magnus, stay safe." she said finally "See ya, don't die to quickly ya old bat." Magnus quipped as she hung up on him and called the senior sisters in to discuss what they would have to do moving forward.

Oblivious to the storm brewing, Isaac was quite enjoying the bath Sister Amy was giving him, the water was warm and the soap felt nice. After his bath though she did something that surprised him, with a wave of her hands a warm current of air washes over him, drying him before she takes him and swaddles him in a warm blanket. 'Was that magic?' he thought his mind racing 'what kind of world was I sent too?' his mind raced with all the possibilities. Unaware of the panic the little babe in her arms was going through, Sister Amy placed the little boy in a crib and tucked him in, "Sleep well little one, may the lord grant you a peaceful rest." she said before leaning in and kissing him tenderly on the forehead snapping him out of his manic thinking as he watched her leave the room.

'Well I guess this is my new life now.' he thought as he lay in the crib. 'I wonder where my system is?' [right here host] said a voice in his head scaring him, 'Oh were you there the whole time?' he asked after he calmed down [Yes] it told him as he mentally rubbed his hands together 'Sweet, can you show me my stats?' [Ok]

'Hey what gives? Why is it so empty?' he complained [It's because of your age, host. As you grow and your body develops the status screen will update.] 'Oh, ok. That makes more sense I guess, will there be a system store later on?' [Where would be the fun in telling you that?] the system teased him but after such a nice bath, he was too tired to fight and slowly drifted off to sleep, [Sleep well, little one]
