Chapter 124: A Battle of Truths and Eyes
"Is this guy really that powerful?"
"What kind of terrifying coercion is this?"
Uchiha Obito's expression darkened as he stood beside Nagato. The oppressive force that had just leveled Yuyin Village still lingered in the air like an unrelenting storm cloud. Sweat clung to the back of his neck beneath the mask, and for the first time in years, he felt cornered—not by circumstance, but by sheer power.
He had witnessed the destruction firsthand: Uchiha Yuta, cloaked in the Hokage's royal robes, suspended in mid-air like a celestial god descending to mete out divine judgment. The sheer aura had shattered buildings, immobilized shinobi, and silenced an entire hidden village in seconds.
'Is this the power of a single man?' Obito thought, a chill crawling up his spine.
Xiao Nan, standing on the tower's ledge, was visibly shaken. Cold sweat beaded down her forehead, and her pale face twisted in disbelief. Yuyin Village—her home, her legacy with Yahiko—was now reduced to cracked stone and drifting dust. All their years of careful planning and resilience had been crushed in the span of a breath.
"It's over… it's really all over," she muttered, her voice barely audible.
Nagato, though equally stunned, was quick to recover. As the de facto leader of the Akatsuki, he couldn't afford to falter now. Drawing in a sharp breath, the Rinnegan in his eyes pulsed with ominous light as he slowly rose into the air with chakra-supported levitation.
"Uchiha Yuta..." he growled, his voice strained with fury and humiliation. "You dare invade and humiliate Yuyin Village like this?!"
Yuta, high above them, barely blinked. His calm, expressionless demeanor contrasted starkly with the chaos he had just unleashed. The corners of his mouth curled ever so slightly.
"You dared to challenge Konoha and touch the Tailed Beasts. This—" Yuta swept a hand through the air, motioning to the wreckage below, "—is the price for your arrogance."
Having made up his mind to annex Yuyin Village and extinguish the Akatsuki threat once and for all, Uchiha Yuta had rushed here the moment intel came through. And now, with Nagato, Obito, and Konan all present, the timing couldn't be better.
"Hmph... Good! Very good!"
Nagato's laughter was bitter and crazed as he raised both hands. "Then come and witness the wrath of the Rinnegan!"
With a deep hum of energy, the platform before the tower trembled and cracked—five figures shot upward in synchronized precision, landing beside Nagato. Clad in the Akatsuki cloak and marked by the signature piercings—Pain's Six Paths had returned.
"Remade them again, have you?" Yuta scoffed. "I've said it before, and I'll say it again—using the Rinnegan like this is an insult to its legacy."
He turned his gaze to Uchiha Obito.
"Don't you think so, tail-end—Uchiha Obito?"
At the sound of that name, the masked man stiffened. "You must be mistaken, Hokage-dono. I don't know any 'Obito'. I am Uchiha Madara."
Yuta's chuckle was soft, almost pitying. "Still clinging to that delusion? Obito, I told you back when the Uchiha Clan was wiped out—you can wear Madara's name, mask, and ideals, but a crane's tail will never become a phoenix."
"You—!"
Boom!
With a deafening crack, Obito's chakra exploded in fury. The platform beneath him shattered as he clenched his fists, barely restraining himself from attacking.
"Are you angry?" Yuta asked calmly, narrowing his eyes. "Then let me tell you something that'll really enrage you."
He took a step forward in midair, chakra swirling beneath his feet.
"Do you know how Nohara Rin truly died?"
Obito froze.
"She was manipulated—her heart tampered with by Madara. Three-Tails forcibly sealed inside her. It was all a setup—so you'd witness her death and fall into darkness. You've been a pawn since day one."
"Liar!! I saw it with my own eyes—she leapt in front of Kakashi's Chidori!" Obito's voice cracked.
"Exactly," Yuta replied, voice firm. "She chose to die, knowing what was inside her. But the whole situation was manufactured by Madara, Black Zetsu, and White Zetsu. You just saw what they wanted you to see."
Obito staggered, the air around him rippling with conflict. His breathing turned ragged, and the weight of realization slowly began to settle on his shoulders.
A world of illusions. A world built on lies.
"I… inherited Madara's dream," Obito whispered, more to himself than anyone else. "If everything was a lie… then…"
From the tower below, Nagato and Konan exchanged glances, shocked at the revelation.
"So he's not Madara… but Obito?"
"Then who's truly been pulling the strings?"
Yuta's gaze remained unrelenting.
"Black Zetsu… White Zetsu… come out. No point in hiding now."
The sky above seemed to darken again—not from chakra, but from the tension hanging between gods and fallen angels.
