He approached a familiar body slowly, and Adonis came running to meet him. But he couldn't hear what he was saying. All he could see was Alexander's body stretched out on the ground, with a lot of blood around him.
His anger was great. Adonis tried to stop him, but Adam sidestepped him, entered his enemies' field of vision and, raising his gun, fired everywhere he saw an insignia representing his enemy's house. But the creatures didn't flinch at the shots fired from the revolver, just as he didn't even seem to notice that he was being pelted with silver ammunition.
Adam dropped the gun, and with his war howl, everyone heard a crash, like thunder, followed by a fast and furious trot and the creatures looked around. Suddenly, wolves and werewolves surrounded them. Adam began to sharpen his huge claws on each other and was followed and recognized by the other werewolves. And they attacked the creatures mercilessly. The blood splattered everywhere was not that of any werewolf. In daylight or moonlight, they would always be stronger than any other creature, and when Adam felt that none of them were breathing anymore, he let himself fall to the ground. Kneeling first, he turned to some werewolf that his vision could no longer distinguish.
"Reign their bodies in. The world is not yet ready to know of their existence. Give a proper burial to the humans who fought in our war, and to the werewolves who lost their lives. I burned all the rest." He said and fell to the ground.
The werewolf with whom Adam had given his last orders approached with a worried look on his face and stared at the Alpha. He had been hit, many times, and at that moment, he saw the Alpha smile. And he understood what motivated that smile. He knew he was dying, but he would take some of them with him.
Falling, Adam saw that Adonis was approaching and saying something to someone nearby. But the one who stooped down to him and took in his whole field of vision was Max. He grabbed him by the collar and shouted something. It took him a while to understand what he was saying.
"What have you done with Anna? Where is she? Talk to me, you bastard! You're not going to die! You'll live with the remorse cutting through your heart. I'll tell Ian that you killed his mother! Do you think he'll ever want to see you again?" Max cried in despair.
Adam could no longer feel the places where he had been hit burning, and it was with great difficulty that he held Max and brought him within reach of his lips, and spoke into his ear;
"Take it away, Adonis. Sarah... Avocado." He managed to say, before fainting.
Max looked at Adonis who was standing up, startled.
"Do you know what he's talking about?"
"I know. I'll call Mycon..."
"The only thing you're going to do now is take me to this place."
Adonis shook his head negatively.
"I'll take you, but Adam is more important than Anna." He said and using his speed, found Mycon, and reported everything to him.
"Go and take the boss's brother. I'll take care of everything around here."
Adonis went back to Maxwell.
"Come with me." He said to Maxwell, and took off running, Max following him. Both using their speed, without fear of being discovered. Something or someone must already be arranging for any human who witnessed that battle to die or forget what they saw.
They got into the first car they saw when they arrived at the estate, and Adonis drove in a hurry. He passed the dirt road and didn't slow down once. Max prayed that he would find Anna still alive. He tried to ask Adonis what he thought, but the boy didn't answer. He stayed focused. He stopped in front of the house where Sarah had been tortured and ran over to the avocado tree. The soil had recently been removed. Max cried out in despair and began to remove the soil with his bare hands. Adonis ran into the house and brought out two shovels, handing one to Max, who tearfully accepted it, and they started digging. It wasn't long before he found Anna's inert body. Max pulled her out of the grave and laid her on the ground, weeping over her. Adonis sharpened his hearing to her chest and listened to her pulse.
"She's alive. She's breathing hard, but if you take her to the hospital, she might survive. Let's go. I'll take you in the car."
Adonis said, and Max wiped away the tears with his dirt-covered hand and, taking Anna in his arms, followed Adonis who was walking quickly.
But Adonis stopped, looking paralyzed, and Maxwell looked to see what had stopped the werewolf's determined steps.
Genevieve was leaning against the car, looking at her nails.
"We know she won't make it to hospital alive, Max. The moment for your decision is now." She said without taking her eyes off her nails.
Max walked past Adonis, who was still paralyzed, looking surprised at Genevieve, and put Anna in the back seat of the car, and turned to Genevieve.
"I can't do that to her, if she gets the chance..."
"Very worthy of you, master, but she doesn't stand a chance. I can calculate how many heartbeats she still has."
Max took a deep breath.
"She'll never forgive me, Genevieve."
"She won't forgive you if you don't give her the chance to see her children grow up." Genevieve said and finally lost interest in her nails and looked inside the car. "You always knew that one day you'd have to do this to her... And I believe it was always her destiny. Her mother always tells me about that day... There are prophecies..."
Max stared at Genevieve, knowing that she was right. Anna didn't even have two minutes left to live. He pulled her out of the car and placed her on the ground, holding her inert torso between his arms.
"I'm sorry, my dear." He said and his canine teeth grew quickly, and visibly, and with their very fine tips, like needles, he stabbed Anna's neck.
