"Why did a long time acquaintance of yours have me kidnapped?" Nicole asked, and I suddenly felt numb. How was I to explain to her that a stupid mistake on my part from long ago had nearly cost her life and those of our babies while they were still yet to be born.
She stared tiredly at me, probably waiting for an answer. The news of Clark's involvement in the incident that occurred that night had weakened her way more than I had expected, and I was cautious so as not to weaken her anymore than she already was.
"Why?" She asked after a few minutes of which I remained silent. I could not bear to look at her eyes which held so much sadness, knowing just how much more sadness I was about to cause her. But she was looking at me without blinking. In fact, her eyes peered into my soul as if in search of the answers to her questions.
"He was seeking revenge on me." I replied, looking far away from her, and she looked on in confusion.
