Kelsey's POV
{Hospital Hallway - 8:55 P.M.}
The second I stepped out of the room, I exhaled deeply with my hands on my chest. My shoulders dropped a little. I checked the hallway, making sure it was empty and it was. Good!
I can't have anyone sneaking up on me and listening to my conversation, especially if the person is a loyal officer to the Marshal. That monster could kill me without thinking of my daughter.
I walked until I was standing near the window at the far end, where the hallway curved. There were no cameras. No ears. Literally no one was around. Just the sound of distant machines beeping faintly. I pulled out my phone and, with hesitant fingers, pressed the call back button.
It rang once.
Then twice.
And finally, the line connected.
"I told you to pick up the phone as soon as I call,"
"Father, I'm still at the hospital,"
"And so?" His voice was cold. As usual. "What does it have to do with me?"
