{Landon's POV}
{Kelsey's Residence - 8:42 A.M.}
I stood in the kitchen, arms crossed, leaning on the edge of the counter as the scent of her shampoo lingered faintly in the air. Kelsey was upstairs, probably getting dressed for work. She had told me everything last night, every broken piece of her secret laid out bare like glass on a table. And instead of cutting me, it made me proud. Proud that she trusted me. Proud that she chose to protect her daughter more than anything... Well, our daughter.
She didn't have to say much since I already knew what she was hiding, but I had to act and pretend like I was hearing it for the first time. I saw it in her eyes. That desperation. The annoying fear she had of her father. But the fire was still there, the one that ignited the anger and hatred she had for her father.
