Kakashi, hanging upside down in the middle of the cemetery, was about to pass out.
Logically speaking, as someone from Konoha who had defected to support the Daimyō, he should've been treated well—like a prized relic bought at a high price to show good faith.
Unfortunately, Kakashi had stumbled upon part of the truth and realized he'd been duped.
Sasuke had fed him a fabricated story: that the Daimyō was a descendant of the Senju clan, and that both the Second Hokage and Uchiha Obito had once been his supporters.
The Daimyō had even summoned Kakashi privately. After witnessing the overwhelming power the Daimyō wielded, Kakashi's imagination ran wild. He promptly agreed to act as a guide and defector, convinced that Konoha was beyond saving—a sinking ship. In his mind, jumping ship was the only rational choice.
He first persuaded the sharp-minded Nara clan. Nara Shikaku knew exactly where the winds were blowing, and besides, wasn't the Daimyō a symbol of "justice"?
Once the village system had been abolished and the Daimyō's objectives fulfilled, Kakashi requested to see Obito. After all, the Daimyō had promised to return Obito to him once the mission was complete.
But that promise had been a lie from the start. Where was the Daimyō supposed to find Obito? What did he expect—just grab some random guy with the same name?
Kakashi flipped out.
The consequences were dire.
Sasuke had never liked him anyway and had been waiting for an excuse to get rid of him. Kakashi had basically delivered himself on a silver platter.
Sasuke had been bottling up resentment for years while lying low in Konoha. Even after reducing the village to ashes, that fury hadn't dissipated—it just wasn't enough.
So, he turned to Orochimaru and used Edo Tensei to resurrect a few individuals. After all, his Mangekyō Sharingan ability, Jibaku was tailor-made for torment. Why let such a jutsu go to waste?
(T/N: Jibaku: Turns the dead into bound spirits, forcing them to endlessly relive the agony of death without end)
...
"Where is this…?" The old woman brought back by Edo Tensei looked around in confusion. When her eyes landed on her son and daughter-in-law, her expression turned to horror.
Obito's grandmother had been a kind old lady. His parents had also been good people. Who would've guessed they'd raise someone like that?
The family of three tearfully reunited, completely ignoring Sasuke standing off to the side.
Elsewhere, the resurrected Koharu Utatane, Homura Mitokado, and Shimura Danzō were far less cordial. The moment they opened their eyes and saw Sasuke, they immediately began cursing him. But their vocabulary was embarrassingly limited. All they could manage was "Evil Uchiha" over and over again. Sasuke completely tuned them out.
The memory of being cursed relentlessly by the shadow came flooding back. He couldn't for the life of him figure out where that guy had learned such a vast repertoire of insults.
As for Konoha's former leadership? Sasuke had zero interest in talking to them—let alone arguing about right or wrong or waiting for them to admit their sins and beg for forgiveness. This wasn't a damn Detective Conan episode where the culprit confesses after being cornered, spilling their motives and regrets.
In the real world, criminals were shameless and almost never repented. At best, they feared punishment—not guilt.
And those old geezers from the Konoha council? They never saw themselves as criminals. They fancied themselves righteous—always applying the lowest possible standards to themselves, while demanding saint-like perfection from others...
Disgusted, Sasuke snapped, "Enough! All of you shut up! Say one more word, and I'll sell your souls to a damn brothel!"
Silence fell like a hammer.
Shinobi were a people who valued death over life. They might not fear dying, but they definitely cared about how they died—and how they'd be remembered. Sasuke's threat had been utterly vile.
He shot them a cold glance. Be grateful for Uchiha-sama's mercy.
The demon had once suggested wiping out their entire bloodlines—men and women, all the way to the ninth generation. Banish the survivors forever, force the men to live as prostitutes and the women to become courtesans. That, said the demon, was the proper way to vent.
But Sasuke thought he was already being incredibly kind. Turning them into tethered souls via Jibaku was enough. If he'd really followed the demon's advice, he would've sent them all to the red-light district.
...
With the scene under control, Sasuke placed Edo Tensei–summoned Rin Nohara and the half-dead Kakashi into the cemetery as well. Then, he sent a Zetsu clone to inform Obito, quietly awaiting his arrival.
By the time Obito emerged from the Kamui dimension and arrived at the ruins of Konoha's graveyard, the sight that greeted him was harrowing—several souls being forced to endure strange, twisted forms of death again and again. Kakashi hung upside down. Besides the three decrepit Konoha elders, the rest were people dearest to him in life.
His bond with Kakashi hadn't vanished. In fact, he saw him first—only afterward noticing Rin, and then, the grandmother he hadn't seen in years.
As for his parents?
They had died too early. Obito barely remembered them.
The souls noticed the figure in the orange spiral mask. Reactions varied.
Shimura Danzō recognized Obito instantly. His eyes nearly bulged out of his head in fury. But as a bound spirit, he couldn't speak—he just slammed his head against the ground over and over until it was pulp, only for it to regenerate and start again.
Under the mask, Uchiha Obito's expression turned thunderous. His killing intent began to spill out, uncontrollable.
"Hmph!" he snorted and yanked Kakashi up by the collar—only to freeze when he saw the hollow, empty sockets where Kakashi's Sharingan had been.
"His Sharingan… Damn it! Zetsu, get out here!"
A White Zetsu clone rose from the ground. "Yo, Obito, what's up?"
"Call me Madara! What happened to Kakashi's eye?"
"Well, obviously—it got gouged out."
"No shit! I'm asking who took it, what the hell happened here, and where the hell is Uchiha Sasuke?!"
"Oh, that was all Sasuke. He dug up your family's graves, smashed their bones to dust, flushed the remains down the toilet, then used Edo Tensei and that creepy eye technique to mess with their souls..."
CRACK!
"You bastard!" Obito's fist smashed into the earth. The surge of hatred twisted his chakra, and the shape of the Mangekyō Sharingan appeared in his eyes.
He couldn't bear to see his loved ones suffering like this.
Grandma, Rin… wait for me!
He turned sharply. "Zetsu. Where is Uchiha Sasuke?"
"Over at the ruins of the Hokage Tower... eating dango."
"…Eating dango?!" Obito's rage boiled over.
He stormed off to confront Sasuke. Only Sasuke could undo the jutsu that shackled their souls.
And Obito knew—he'd been exposed. There was no other reason for Sasuke to go this far against the people he once cherished.
