Penelope's POV
The silver blade was only a few inches away from my throat.
"Wrong choice," Zayne hissed, firing anger into her black eyes.
I put both hands on his wrist and pushed the knife away from my neck. My new powers rushed through me like lightning. As my energy left my body, the cave walls cracked.
"Let go of me!" I screamed.
Zayne flew backwards and hit the wall of stone. Rocks and dust fell everywhere. The phantom queens around us started to shine brighter.
"You think your little trial makes you strong enough to fight me?" Zayne stood up, blood running down his face. "I've had a thousand years to perfect my darkness."
He raised his hand and shadows shot toward me like darts. I threw up a shield of silver light just in time. The shadows hit my shield and turned to smoke.
"Penelope!" Lyanna's voice was getting weaker. "You must choose! Save us or save yourself!"
