Chapter 35 - The Battle Master Arrives

Hildr and Anastasia were both very powerful, and they both had the will to kill the other. Their battle became bloody very fast, and soon, the entire place was left devastated. Hildr could sense countless people gathering, but she did not care.

"If I have the chance to solve this problem here and now, I will do just that. I will not let myself be tied to some fool from the Strigoi," she said to herself as she moved in for another attack. Even if she ended up being expelled, it would be worth it as long as she managed to regain her freedom from the fates by killing this woman.

On the other hand, Anastasia was simply pissed beyond compare. This person had invaded her space and even went into her diary. This was unacceptable, and only killing this person would remove some of the rage she was feeling. Her flames burned even hotter than before.

The two clashed tens of times before the first person arrived. They were left mesmerized by the explosions that filled the sky.

Punches and kicks were exchanged. Claws tore through flesh, and bones were pulverized.

There was carnage, and the scent of blood filled the air.

Hildr saw that things were not going her way. By now, they were already surrounded by students who were cheering while some were screaming out for help. At this rate, someone was bound to interfere.

This was not a chance Hildr was willing to give up.

"It is time to finish this," she thought.

Anastasia landed a ball of fire across Hildr's chest, covering the place in smoke and fire. Anastasia let her guard down for a second, but that was all that Hildr needed. She had intentionally taken on the fireball so that she could create this opportunity. The moment her foe showed the opening, Hildr struck like a snake. She had already created a long spear out of ice, and she now pierced towards Anastasia.

The young woman saw the attack coming, but she did not have the time to properly react. The spear went through her chest, coming out from her back.

Anastasia cried out in pain, making all the people who had gathered shiver right from their souls.

The two girls fell to the ground and sent dust and rocks flying in all directions.

Hildr stood up as fast as she could and stood over her enemy. She did not waste any time giving a speech or anything like that. She did not even explain the reason as to why she was killing the young woman. She simply manifested a long ice sword and cut down to behead the young woman. Even though this would only be the first strike towards killing a Strigoi, it would give Hildr the upper hand, allowing her to take more drastic measures to truly kill the young woman. Just as the sword was less than a centimeter away from chopping off the young woman's head, Hildr suddenly felt great pain on her back.

She realized that she had been attacked, but it was too late as she was sent flying through the air.

She coughed out blood, leaving a bloody trail wherever she passed.

Boom, she collided with a large tree, snapping it in half. She then fell to the earth, creating a large crater.

There was a tree branch going through her chest, and her left hand was barely hanging onto her body.

"Who the fuck was that?" she questioned herself.

Hildr felt as though her body was on the brink of falling apart, but she gritted her teeth and began moving once more.

She had to finish what she started. She used her right hand to pull the branch out of her chest. Blood spewed everywhere, but she did not care. She stood up and looked towards her enemy. It was the Battle Master.

A lecturer had intervened.

When Hildr saw this, all her killing intent disappeared like the wind.

She understood that even though she was very powerful, there were people she could not yet face. The Battle Master was one of those people.

No matter how much Hildr struggled after this, her chance to kill Anastasia had already come and gone. There was nothing she could do but give up.

Hildr's injuries healed very quickly, and after just a few seconds, she was back to her prime. Anastasia was also back to looking all perfect.

The two looked at each other, but Hildr did not dwell on the past. It was now time to get through the rest and preserve the future. She had attacked, or rather defended herself against, a fellow student, and this was grounds for expulsion.

Since she had not achieved her goal of killing the young woman, Hildr was not willing to be expelled.

Hildr smiled at the Battle Master and before bowing deeply. For a person of her status to bow was the greatest sign of respect.

"Good afternoon to you, sir," she said in a sweet and innocent voice. Her entire aura had already changed to that of one who could not even kill a chicken. The Battle Master looked at her as though he was seeing Hildr for the first time.

This could as well have been the case.

"Both of you, come with me," the Battle Master barked out. His power was at the ready, and Sol could be seen moving all about him. If Hildr were to do anything, she would face the full force of this legendary Battle Master.

"As you wish," said Hildr.

No one had expected her to say this.

They had thought that she would try defending herself by making excuses or something of the kind. This was because everyone knew that these two were being taken to face the council. In the past, all those that were placed before the council were soon expelled from the academy with their reputations forever tarnished.

When Anastasia heard that they were headed for the council, she almost broke down, but she then remembered something very important and calmed down. She even smiled at Hildr, making everyone think that the two girls were crazy.

The two followed the Battle Master into Sol, the main palace on campus. This palace was so large that it held all the lecture halls, dining halls, and even all the administrative halls.

Even the council hall was in this palace.

All the students discussed this matter, and soon, everyone on campus heard about it.

To make matters even worse, news reached the many reporters, and it was played continuously on the news.

Hildr and Anastasia were the futures of the Draugr and the Strigoi respectively, and if they were already fighting before they began leading their people, one could only imagine the wars the two would start after they held true power.
