Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Cleo Confronts Camille

"Do you two know each other?" Camille asked, her eyes darting between both men.

"We more than know each other. I should be the one asking you how you know Shane," Ethan said, stepping beside Camille.

Shane looked at his actions, but his face remained blank.

Camille, oblivious to the tension brewing between both men explained, "Shane is the owner of the car which man ran into, the one who offered to take care of the expenses."

Ethan raised his eyebrows at her words.

"I never knew that the great Shane would be such a nice person," Ethan commented, sarcasm dripping in his voice.

"You can see me how you deem fit," Shane replied, and walked away.

Camille watched him leave with his entourage, but her attention was distracted when Ethan tugged at her arms.

"Stay away from him," he warned.

Camille was confused by the sudden warning, and hence she asked, "why do you say so?"

"He's more dangerous than he looks, just stay away from him for your safety," Ethan warned.

"But he doesn't look dangerous," Camille argued. And she couldn't be blamed.

Shane had not given her any vibes of danger, and she refused to believe Ethan's words. After all, Shane had been nice to her.

"That is what he wants you to think, trust me Cam, I know him, he exudes danger, just stay away from him, I heard from Asher that it was the driver's number you gave him, that was very smart of you," Ethan praised.

"Let's go home," Ethan said, guiding Camille to the car.

Camille looked back, she didn't believe Ethan's words. But since he warned her to stay away from him, there was nothing she could do about it.

"Why did you both stay long?" Asher asked when they both finally got to the car.

"We got caught up with a little drama that needed to be settled," Ethan responded.

"Get in Camille," Ethan instructed, opening the car's door for her.

Camille exhaled before she walked into the car.

Asher looked at Ethan who had a stormy expression on his face, and he figured that he needed to ask what happened earlier when they finally arrived home.

After they arrived home, Camille and Cleo went into their respective rooms. Ethan and Asher shared glances, and they knew they needed to speak with each other.

"What happened earlier at the restaurant?" Asher asked once they arrived at Ethan's study.

"I bumped into Shane," Ethan replied, rhythmically tapping his fingers on the table.

Asher immediately sat up straight at his words.

"What do you mean you bumped into Shane?" Asher asked, his playful expression completely discarded.

"He is the one John had a collision with two days ago, the one who offered to take responsibility for the car," Ethan explained, exhaling heavily.

"How did Camille get entangled with him? He is dangerous, are you sure he didn't do it on purpose?" Asher asked, his voice tinged with worry.

"I'm not sure he did it on purpose, he didn't seem to know that Camille and I shared a relationship, but even if he is aware, we have to keep Camille away from him, he is a viper," Ethan explained, and Asher nodded, agreeing to his words

"You know, I'm still surprised, I didn't expect that Shane would help someone out, given his character in the underworld, Camille could have been 6ft under," Asher carelessly commented.

Ethan shot him a glare, and he clamped his mouth shut instantly.

"It was a mistake, I'm sorry," Asher apologised with his head bowed.

Ethan rolled his eyes before saying, "we only need to keep Camille away from him, and everything would be fine."

Meanwhile, Camille was in her room, seated on her bed.

She had a thoughtful expression on her face as she thought about what Ethan had said earlier.

"Is Shane really dangerous?" She asked herself.

Sure, he always had a calm expression, and didn't talk much, but he had never shown that he could be a dangerous person.

"Gosh, this is so frustrating," she yelled, falling to the bed, and covering herself with her blanket.

All of a sudden, there was a knock on the door. She frowned, wondering who was knocking at such a late hour.

"Come in," she said, the blanket buried in her face.

Once she heard the sound of the door open, she sat up straight. She frowned on seeing that it was Cleo who had walked in.

"What are you doing here?" Camille asked, staring hostilely at the intruder.

"I am here to apologize," Cleo said, but Camille was not buying any of it.

"I don't believe you," Camille snorted. It would be a waste for her to be reborn and still fall for Cleo's lies.

"But I am here to apologize," Cleo insisted.

"Why don't you believe me?" She asked, seeing that Camille didn't bother to pay attention to her.

"You'd normally apologize in the presence of my brothers, and afterwards, you'll hurt yourself so that they'll feel pity for you," Camille chuckled, and gave her a look of mockery.

"You think I'd believe you? I'd be stupid if I believe any words coming from you, tell me why you are really here," Camille demanded, exiting the bed as she came to stand in front of Cleo.

She was a head taller than Cleo, and standing in front of her while staring down at her, she gave off intimidating vibes.

Cleo swallowed. She hated that she could not reach Camille. It was always like this.

"You've changed so much. You were never like this," Cleo said, her voice faltering.

Camille tilted her head. "A coward? A scaredy cat? Yeah, I was, but not anymore."

She stepped closer, her tone firm, "I had a wake-up call, I won't let an outsider walk over me in my own home."

Cleo's jaw clenched. "You think your brothers' change in behavior is just coincidence?""

"That's their choice, just like mine, and it's none of your business," Camille shot back, her face hardening.

"Get out of my room." Camille calmly ordered, pointing to the door

"I'll find out what you're hiding," Cleo spat, "and when I do, your brothers won't even look at you."

"Try me," Camille smiled coldly.

Cleo glared at her for a while before she stormed out of the room in anger.

"Good riddance," Camille snorted before collapsing to her bed.

Meanwhile, Shane was seated in his study with a figure standing before him.

"I never expected that Camille would be Ethan's and Asher's sister," Shane muttered, swirling the pen in his fingers.

"What do you plan to do boss?" The figure asked, staring at Ethan whose expression couldn't be read.

"You'll find out soon," Shane replied with a calm tone, but the mystery in his words was enough for the figure to shiver.
