The door was pushed open, and a boot stepped into the room.
"Ahhhhh!"
Ian charged forward, raising his wood axe to strike!
But before his blow could reach the intruder, the man easily caught it with his hand.
With a click, the wood axe was snatched away with one hand.
Ian froze.
The newcomer wasn't the bandit he had imagined.
He wore metal armor with a crimson sun emblem emblazoned on his chest.
"You are—"
Before Ian could react, the knight had already tossed the wood axe behind him and quickly walked toward the bedside, looking at the little girl curled up in a ball.
He frowned, removed his gloves, and tentatively touched Mia's forehead.
"High fever."
His tone showed little emotion, yet it sounded like a verdict. Without another word, he bent down and picked up the girl.
"You—what are you doing? Put her down!" Ian instinctively tried to grab her back, but was blocked by the man's outstretched hand.
