He went back to his room, and his eyes immediately got onto a big obsidian-colored pod placed in the right corner.
"How is it?"
A voice entered his ears. Who else? It was his brother.
"Yeah, I liked the color at least."
"Well, of course you liked it. How could I not know my little brother's favorite color? Totally black, just like his life."
"That doesn't even make me feel bad, you know. By the way, is it connected already?"
"Of course it is. I don't do things half-heartedly."
"Well, then goodbye. I am going to create my character."
"Wait a minute. It is your first time using it. Let me tell you some details."
"Yeah, no thanks. I know everything."
"How can that be? You definitely don't know how to send friend requests. Once you enter the world and look at your information panel, there will be an option to add friends in the right upper corner.
Select that, and it will ask you to put the username of the friend you want to add. Just type Tenebran's Prince, and you will see a person with that name, and you have to send a friend request to that guy. It's mandatory."
Vaelen looked at him expressionlessly and nodded.
"Got it. I will definitely do so."
"Hm… that's the spirit, and yes, you can choose the name Tenebran Second Prince, because the general public isn't allowed to choose the lineage, so it is definitely available."
Vaelen nodded again.
"That's what I was thinking of."
"That's my little brother for you. Go and create your character now, and let's rule the parallel world together."
"Thank you...big brother, for guiding me."
"That's my birthright, little brother. It's something I must do."
Vaelen rolled his eyes and moved towards the pod.
It was quite beautiful looking. He opened it and saw that the sleeping cushion was also black in color and looked quite comfortable.
There is no need to remove clothes to enter it; it's your own choice. If you wear something, it will appear on you inside the world.
He immediately went inside and lay down.
The cushion adjusted itself according to his height and body shape to give him the most relaxing position.
The pod closed automatically. He didn't have to close his eyes; he just needed to say one sentence.
"Connect me to the parallel world."
Immediately, his pod vibrated and started sucking essence present in the atmosphere, and when it got enough essence, Vaelen felt disoriented before his eyes closed themselves, and before he could react, he was standing in a different place.
When Zareth saw that everything was fine, he left.
Vaelen looked around and saw only white space everywhere.
Suddenly, a big screen appeared in front of him, and a voice was heard by him.
"Welcome, this is your character design interface. Although you can't change your real looks, you can still change your clothes, so please choose whatever you like to wear."
The voice sounded natural, like a normal woman was speaking, but Vaelen knew it wasn't the case.
It is said to be an Artificial Intelligence interface designed by humans to set everything before accessing the parallel world. Since he was using the network of the Tenebran family, his data wouldn't be leaked even by mistake.
Although the organization that handles the protocols of the Parallel World states that everyone's data is inaccessible even to them, maybe it's true, but it's better to be safe.
He looked at the screen; there was an image of him in his same clothes. It was a black robe tied with a belt and black pants.
He decided to change it. Creating something opposite to his likes would make him more undiscoverable by anyone.
He decided to go with white clothes of the same configuration, as battling in them is quite easy.
After doing that, he selected done.
"Good, it's time to read your Lineage and affinity. Shall I start?"
Vaelen was already prepared for it, so he didn't hesitate.
"Yes."
"Very well."
The pod itself acts as a device to measure the affinity using the wisdom slate's abilities.
Vaelen kept looking at the information screen, and the first information appeared.
Element - Darkness
The initialization went on for one more second before new information appeared, and seeing that was enough to even give Vaelen a shock.
He was sure that his affinity was higher than 95 percent, but he expected it to be 97 or 98. He didn't even think of 99 percent, much less the information that was being shown on the screen right now.
Affinity with element - 100 %
This was beyond what he had expected, this changes everything.
First ever 100 percent affinity, well, maybe second, as there was a possibility of Lysara getting 100 percent too. No, since he woke up first, that means he was first nonetheless.
He really couldn't believe it, but this raised one more concern, was the situation really that bad that humans really needed 100 percent affinity?
He hadn't heard of any bad news recently, but he couldn't even discard this possibility. The meeting between his family and Lysara's family didn't feel simple—there is definitely something he wasn't aware of yet.
Whatever, even if there is something concerning, thinking about it won't change anything. He is too weak to take part in anything.
"It's time to choose your username. Please write the name in the given box. Do remember, if the name is already chosen, then you can't use it."
Vaelen nodded, he was already aware of these things.
He looked at the floating box and began typing the name he wanted.
His powers of the dark element aren't something he can hide, so there was no point in not choosing a name that pointed towards it.
Also, he decided on something related to veil, as it sounds cool and mysterious to him. Veil is meant to hide something.
He wrote his first name.
'Duskveil,' but it was showing in red; that means it was already taken.
He sighed. He thought that not many people awaken the darkness element; supreme elements are very rare for awakening, so names related to them would be available, but it looks like he was wrong. Maybe some people just use names because they feel cool to hear.
'Shadowveil,' it was red again.
'Shadeveil'
'Duskenveil'
'Nightveil'
'Ashveil'
'Ashenveil'… finally, one green name. It didn't sound bad, so he didn't hesitate and took it.
"Ashenveil, your profile is complete. Tell me any specific privacy settings you want."
"Hide my element and affinity."
He decided to hide even his element. People can definitely see through him if he used any darkness abilities, but he still chose to hide it because his brother might be checking the list of newly appeared darkness element users. If he didn't hide his element, then it would appear in that list.
He can't hide his rank; it was not allowed.
"Done, anything else?"
"Give me a mask."
"Okay, you can always toggle off your mask from the profile window. Just say 'profile' while tapping twice in the air, and it will appear."
Vaelen nodded. A mask was important; his face is real, so hiding it was important for him.
"Okay, now you can access your profile, and in 10 seconds, you will be teleported to the parallel world. Good luck."
As the voice ended, a timer started above his head.
"Profile." He tapped twice to open his profile to see his details.
...
Name - Ashenveil (Rank 1)
Element - Darkness (Hidden)
Elemental Affinity - 100% (Hidden)
Faction: None
...
This was basic information, and it was only visible to the general public if they looked at your information, if you have not hidden anything.
He sighed. It was time to explore the parallel world, although it wasn't any different than this city.
He disappeared...
...
When his eyes were able to see, he was in front of a black rectangular rock. Its height was at least 20 meters and width 15 meters.
What else? It was none other than the Wisdom Slate.
No, it wasn't a replica but the real thing. This parallel world was created by it, and it exists here as well as in reality.
He looked at it intently. There was nothing on it, at least in this parallel world. In the real world, it definitely had some things written on it.
He removed his eyes and looked around at the buildings and everything. It was the one and only city of the Last Hope Continent, the city he lives in. Its name is Last Sanctuary, a fitting name because it really was the last sanctuary for humans.
There was a reason why this world is called the parallel world: it is because this slate has created a perfect replica of the Last Hope Continent.
Right now, he was in the city square, which exists exactly in the middle of this city.
Around him, new people kept appearing. The parallel world was created to help humans, but it also has some kind of game for everyone. Many just come here to relax and connect with long-distance friends, some come here to battle others, but most come here to join lineages to master their element.
That faction icon was for this reason. If he joined the Tenebran Lineage, then it would appear there.
For the time being, he had no intentions of doing that.
He came here for only one thing—that is to battle.
