Chapter 16 - His Touch,My Silence

Back to Ye Jun

The world had narrowed into a blur of pain and heat. Ye Jun could barely register anything beyond the searing pressure in his chest, his claws scraping against the floor, his throat raw from screaming.

Hyeon-ju still lay against the far wall, his shocked eyes locked on the Alpha who had thrown him. The impact still echoed in his bones, but even through the pain, it was the way Yu Jun looked—the way his body trembled with restraint, like a dam about to break—that made Hyeon-ju unable to move.

Yu Jun's breathing was harsh, ragged, his Lycan shifting dangerously beneath his skin. His silver eyes flickered gold—unstable, wild. He hadn't wanted to touch the boy. Couldn't. But when Hyeon-ju reached out earlier, the reaction had been instant. Violent. Unforgivable.

Now, Ye Jun was crumpled before him again, his cries still echoing in Yu Jun's head like they belonged to him.

Yu Jun knelt. Slowly. Controlled. Every cell in his body screamed for caution, for distance, but his hand moved on its own. Trembling, unsure, he reached out… and placed it on Ye Jun's shoulder.

And just like that—

The screams stopped.

Ye Jun's eyes snapped open, dazed. His chest still heaved, but the pain… vanished. Gone, like a fog lifted by the sun.

A warmth spread from Yu Jun's hand, unlike anything Ye Jun had ever felt. It wasn't just comfort—it was balance. Like his soul had stopped spinning, anchored by that one touch. A surge of calm flowed through his veins, electric and soft, a hum that made his breath catch.

Ye Jun didn't think—he moved.

Drawn like a moth to flame, he shifted closer, shoulders quivering. And then, without realizing it, his face buried into Yu Jun's chest. The scent hit him like a wave—dark woods, cold rain, and something ancient. It wrapped around him, sinking into his lungs like oxygen made just for him.

Yu Jun froze.

Every instinct screamed at him to push away, to run. But his arms moved instead—hovering, unsure—then settling softly around the trembling boy in his hold. He didn't breathe. Didn't speak. He couldn't.

Because he finally understood.

This… wasn't just pain.

This was the bond.

And it was waking.

"The Pull of Fate"

Jin and Kwang burst into the hall, breathless from running. The sight before them stopped them cold.

Ye Jun lay crumpled on the floor, but not alone—Yu Jun, their Alpha, was kneeling beside him, his powerful frame wrapped protectively around the smaller boy. There was something haunting in the way Yu Jun held Ye Jun, as if he'd found something precious... or something dangerous he couldn't let go of.

A few feet away, Hyeon-ju groaned in pain against the wall, still recovering from the blow that had thrown him there. His eyes flickered between the Alpha and Ye Jun, confusion and disbelief on his bruised face.

Jin took a cautious step forward, worry clouding his features. But before he could say a word, Min appeared from the corridor, his calm voice slicing through the tension.

"Stop, Jin."

Jin turned to him—and froze.

That scent.

The world seemed to tilt as his wolf surged inside him, roaring with recognition. Mate.

Jin's eyes went wide, glowing faintly as they locked with Min's. His mouth opened, but no words came. Min's expression, usually playful and unreadable, softened for just a moment before he turned his gaze toward Yu Jun. His face turned grave.

"Alpha," Min said, stepping fully into the room, "we need to take him inside. Now."

Yu Jun didn't answer. He simply stood, lifting Ye Jun with careful strength, cradling him as if he weighed nothing. The boy was unconscious, but his breathing had evened out, his face pressed gently to Yu Jun's chest.

"Wait—" Jin called, instinctively reaching out.

But Yu Jun didn't stop. He walked past them, straight into the inner halls of the pack house, toward his own private ward. The silence he left behind felt like a storm had passed—one no one was ready for.

Jin stared after them, heart pounding—not just from what he'd seen, but from what he'd felt. His mate... was Min.

And Min?

Min was smiling again, like he knew it all before it happened.

"Eyes That Lie"

Kwang stood frozen, eyes wide, heart thudding like a warning drum in his chest.

The boy on the floor groaned softly—Hyeon-ju. But something about him didn't match the sharp-tongued wolf he knew. His eyes... they weren't cold or calculating. Not today. Today, they shimmered with something else—mischief? Confusion? Pain?

Kwang couldn't stop staring.

He walked up slowly, helping Hyeon-ju to his feet, their bodies brushing briefly. That familiar jolt didnt come—the one he felt back at the hotel, and again at the party.

Mates.

But… were there two of him?

Twins, Kwang realized, his brows furrowing in shock. "No way…"

He glanced again at Hyeon-ju, trying to find some hint of the bitterness he remembered, but it wasn't there. It was like looking into the same face—only softer, messier, and more human.

Before he could ask anything, Jin grabbed Min by the wrist, yanking him away from the scene.

"Come on," Jin muttered, dragging Min around the corner to a quiet spot behind the hallway pillars. "We need to talk."

Min barely responded—his eyes were glued to Jin the whole time, lips curled into a dreamy grin.

Jin frowned, waving a hand in front of his face. "Hello? Earth to mister?"

Still no answer. Min was visibly drooling over him.

Jin scowled and kicked him lightly in the shin. "I'm being serious here, dumbass."

Min winced but didn't back away. Instead, he closed the distance and tugged Jin close by the front of his shirt, their bodies touching.

"You should be happy," Min whispered, voice low and teasing, "you found your mate."

Jin's heart skipped a beat.

Min's smile widened, bright and annoyingly smug, like he knew all the answers and Jin was just catching up.

"I wasn't looking," Jin muttered, cheeks burning.

"Good," Min said, still grinning. "That means fate smacked you in the face properly."

Jin groaned and tried to look away—but he didn't pull back.
