Chapter 17 - Unseen Ties

Of course! Here's

Jin's face burned a deeper red with every second Min's hand remained locked around his. His fingers were laced tightly, like Min had no intention of ever letting go. It was warm—too warm. Intoxicating. Dangerous.

"L-Let go of me," Jin stuttered, tugging at their joined hands. "People are staring—"

"I don't care," Min grinned, clearly enjoying Jin's flustered state. "You're mine. Let them stare."

"That's not—ugh—don't say stuff like that in public!"

"You mean facts?" Min's grin widened, but something flickered behind his eyes.

Jin huffed, trying once more to pull away, but Min stepped in closer—too close—until their foreheads nearly touched. The warmth was overwhelming now. Jin stopped moving, his breath caught.

Then Min's smile softened, and his voice dropped low. "Jin. I'm serious now."

The sudden shift made Jin blink. Min rarely dropped the teasing tone.

"There's something you need to know," Min said, finally releasing his grip but not stepping away. "It's about Ye Jun and Yu Jun."

Jin tensed. "What about them?"

"They're mates."

Jin stared. "What?"

"It's true," Min said quietly. "I've seen it. Felt it. But it's… complicated."

Jin's eyes narrowed. "Complicated how?"

Min ran a hand through his hair, for once looking tired instead of cocky. "Ye Jun doesn't have a wolf, right? He can't sense the bond like we can. His soul is calling, but he doesn't hear it."

Jin's breath hitched. "And Yu Jun?"

Min hesitated. "He knows. Or at least… part of him does. But he's ignoring it. Pushing it away. He doesn't want a mate."

"What?" Jin's voice cracked in disbelief. "Why would he—"

"Because he's the Alpha," Min said. "Because he's scared. Because he thinks if he lets someone that close, he'll lose control. You've seen what he is. What he can do. And now…" he looked away, "…he thinks Ye Jun is a weakness."

Jin was silent for a long moment, heart twisting. "But it's not. It's not weakness. It's the only thing calming him down."

Min nodded slowly. "Exactly. But try telling that to a monster who's never known softness."

He looked at Jin again, voice serious now. "Something bad is coming, Jin. I've seen shadows I can't name. And Ye Jun… he's at the center of it all. If Yu Jun keeps rejecting the bond, if Ye Jun keeps suffering like this, the bond will break. And if it breaks…" Min's voice dropped to a whisper, "they both won't survive it."

Jin swallowed hard, his earlier embarrassment long gone. "So what do we do?"

Min stepped forward again, sliding his fingers gently back into Jin's. This time, Jin didn't resist.

"We stay close. We protect them. And we make sure neither of them dies before they realize they're meant for each other.

"Falling Fast"

Jin stared at his mate like he was some kind of impossible riddle. His heart wouldn't stop pounding. His thoughts raced in circles.

He knew. He knew this man wasn't a wolf. Not like him.

But even with that knowledge... Jin couldn't stop the pull. The heat. The bond.

"You're not a wolf," Jin said at last, voice low and uncertain. "So what are you?"

Min turned to him with a grin that was way too smug for someone who had just punched a kid earlier. "You noticed, huh? Thought you were too busy falling head over heels."

Jin's eyes narrowed. "I'm serious."

Min chuckled, taking a step closer. "So am I. You fell first. I caught you. That's balance."

Jin let out a sound halfway between a scoff and a groan, kicking Min's shin lightly. "You're impossible."

"Not impossible," Min replied smoothly. "Just irresistible."

Jin glared, cheeks pink. "You still haven't answered my question."

Min leaned in, voice dropping to a near whisper. "Earn it first. Make me fall even harder, then I'll tell you everything."

Jin's mouth opened, probably to yell, but before he could get another word out, Min reached for his hand. This time his touch wasn't playful—it was grounding. Warm. Steady.

"Let's go," Min said softly. "The others are probably losing their minds by now."

He tugged gently. Jin resisted at first… but gave in, fingers curling into Min's without realizing it.

"I still think you're hiding something," he muttered.

"I am," Min said with a wink. "But don't worry, Jin. You'll get it out of me eventually."

With a soft sigh, Jin let himself be pulled away from the wall—still flustered, still annoyed—and completely unaware of the fact that he was already smiling.

💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

While Min dragged a still-grumbling Jin away, laughter trailing faintly behind them, Kwang stood at the far end of the hallway, staring at the boy across from him like he was a ghost.

Hyeon-ju tilted his head, confused. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Kwang didn't answer at first. His jaw clenched. His eyes flickered with something unreadable—anger, hesitation, hurt. He took a step forward, then stopped himself.

"You're not him," Kwang muttered under his breath.

Hyeon-ju blinked. "What?"

"You're not the one," Kwang repeated louder this time, a frustrated edge creeping into his tone. "I thought... back then. That night at the hotel. When I felt—" He stopped, inhaling sharply.

Hyeon-ju looked wary now, a slight frown on his lips. "What exactly are you talking about?"

Kwang shook his head. "Your eyes… They're not cold now. They're confused. Mischievous. You're not... him."

"Hyeon-u," Hyeon-ju supplied carefully, putting the pieces together ,eyes wide hyeon u has found his mate but did not tell anyone about it. "You thought I was my brother."

Kwang didn't deny it. His silence said enough.

Hyeon-ju exhaled slowly, hands going into his pockets. "We're twins. It's easy to mistake us for each other—at first."

"No," Kwang said, his voice quieter now. "It wasn't just that. It was something. My wolf knew. I felt the bond." His gaze darkened as he looked away. "And he… he rejected it."

There was a beat of silence between them. Hyeon-ju didn't know what to say to that.

"I'm sorry," he said finally, surprising both of them. "But I'm not him. And if you're looking for answers… you should be talking to Hyeon-u."

Kwang nodded slowly, like the truth was heavier than he expected. "Yeah," he said. "I guess I should."

And with that, he turned away, leaving Hyeon-ju staring after him—wondering how long his brother had been carrying that kind of storm inside him.
