"Crazy how the old lady you saved just happened to be the person who requested guards for the memorial.", Onyx stated as she lazily laid across Sami's stomach.
"Right", agreed Sami. "What are the odds of that happening"
Onyx just nodded, "In city this size not a lot, but strange things happen around you"
"Whats that supposed to mean?", Sami asked
"Nothing nothing", She replied. Letting out a giant yawn as she put her down.
Onyx snore quickly filled the room as they laid. Sami couldn't sleep, his mind stuck on the city. From what he's seen the city of Havensguard has way more crime in it then what would be expected.
Even with extra guards, people are always weary and rude of each other. A big difference from the Asturim, where people were at least cordial with each other.
Thankfully they made it back to the shrine in peace, though Lyra and Akio both split after assigning the rooms. The shrine itself was in a quiet part of the city so there wasn't much noise making for a peaceful night.
Sami, though still restless, decided to get up and go outside to see the stars. Onyx grumbled at being disturbed, but he put her on his head before making his way through the building. Exiting out the building Sami looked at moon shining bright in the sky.
Sami noticed a figure standing close to the trees, and decided to approach them. Getting closer he realized it was the person he met earlier Poke. Making noise so Poke wouldn't be attacked.
"So you couldn't sleep either?" Sami asked, stopping right next to Poke.
Poke glanced at Sami before returning his eyes to the moon. "Oh it's the country bumpkin bothering his betters once again.", Poke sneered.
"Ugh seriously you've been making insults towards me since we've met", Sami whined. "What did I do to piss you off so much?"
"I don't need a reason to dislike you!", replied Poke.
"Are all people from the Academy an asshole like you". Sami muttered
"You think you're so special huh you buffoon.", Poke stated his face in a scowl.
"Welp unlike you my mom always told me I was special, maybe its because she loved me as child", Sami challenged.
"Keep talking and-", Started Poke
"And what", Sami interrupted. "Are you going to try and fight me again? How did it work last time?"
Before Poke could reply Sami's body was dragged by his face into the air. Poke didn't have time to help as two bats flew down to the ground before turning into humans. Though both looked slightly pale compared to other people.
"While I thank you for taking away that third rate clown. I'll have to ask you to leave this is private property.", Poke demanded.
"Sure we'll leave", the one on the left said
"After we get the book", the one on the right finished.
"Ahh I see you got the whole twins thing going on." Sassed Poke. "Let me guess the one on the left is dumb and the one on the right is the ugly one."
"All humans think they're so funny", the one the left sneered
The one on the right didn't say anything as she smiled, her teeth beginning to the lengthen. The one on the right was a woman shorter than the man on the left but they both looked similar.
Poke though didn't care to observe what they looked like as he began to draw his dagger from his hip.
"So you've chosen death", the woman taunted.
"So be it!", the man added
The man quickly charged at Poke, his hand reaching out to grab him. Poke's body vanished into petals, appearing behind the woman to stab her.
CLANG!
The dagger bounced off her skin leaving not a scratch but some sparks into the air. Poke barely had time to get his guard block before getting kicked tumbling across the ground a couple feet.
"Fuck that hurt", Pokr muttered as he climbed to his feet. His arms were sore for blocking the attack though wasn't injured.
"This is what happens when you're a hero", the man provoked stalking closer to Poke, his sister following behind.
"Visum Terrorem(Sight of Dread)", Poke chanted. Slamming his dagger into the ground.
From the ground wolves began to rise standing in front of Poke. Five in total began to growl as they faced the people. The pack charged at the woman moving as a unit as they pounced on her.
Poke took this as a chance to charge the man, dagger held backwards as he went on the attack. The man smiled at the challenge as dodged the flying quick. Poke quickly stabbed with his dagger that was blocked by the man's hand.
Poke went into a rhythm of attacking, using kicks and slashes to kick the man on the defense. Though anyone watching could see the man was having an easy time dodging each attack. When Poke went for another quick slash to the man's chest, the man grabbed Poke's wrist.
"Look at you exhorting yourself for naught", The man chuckled. The anger on Poke's face amusing him greatly.
With his other hand he snatched the dagger out of Poke's hand before letting go. Causing Poke to stumble back because of how hard he was struggling to fear his wrist. The man crushed the dagger shattering into many pieces.
Before Poke could react the man was already on him throwing a punch that broke Poke's nose sending blood flying everywhere. Poke didn't even have time to react before the man grabbed him by his neck.
The body in the man's body turned to petals as Poke appeared to the left of the man. His nose leaked blood as he tried to stop it. The man once again tried to grab Poke though Poke once again turned into petals reappearing further away this time.
"You do know with your blood I can always track you at any time right", The man chided as walked towards Poke.
"YEAH WILL TRACK THIS", A VOICE shouted.
The man didn't have time before Lyra kicked the man sending him into his sister, who just finished killing the wolves. Both sprawling on the ground from the force he was thrown.
Lyra quickly ran to Poke chanting, "Lux Sana, Ferrum Exsurge(Healing Light, Iron Arise!)"
Waving her hand over Poke's body healing all the injuries he's gotten so far including his broken nose. Once the healing was done Lyra took a step back making sure he was okay before turning back towards the two people.
"Ugh took you long enough to help", Poke nagged as he stretched out his now pain free arms.
"Honestly I was really busy dealing with something, if it wasn't for a loud explosion I probably wouldn't have noticed the attack," Lyra replied.
"Either way it's good to be teaming up with you again", Poke stated.
Lyra didn't reply as she pulled Poke out of the way. The ground soon cracked as the woman stood up from the kick she tried. Lyra then forced Poke to duck as a punch came at his head.
Rolling across Poke's back, Lyra kicked the woman sending her flying a few feet away.
"SISTER!"The man screamed, his once smug smile turning to anger. "I'm going to kill you both and feast on your blood" The man's teeth lengthened as he hissed.
"Oh like I haven't heard that before", Lyra mocked.
"I don't think we should be taunting them", Poke told her. "They're skin is like made of diamond or something I couldn't get through."
"Meh wouldn't be the first creature I've fought with tough skin", Lyra said as she began to crack her knuckles. Plus I'm just getting warmed up"
