And so I stayed, this time sitting a little closer to him.
I watched as he downed a full glass of wine. He reached to pour himself another, but I gently took his hand.
"Anthony? Is something upsetting you?"
His lips curved, but it wasn't quite a smile. He shook his head.
"I just need a drink, Alicia."
I smiled, pushing the bottle and glasses aside.
"You're going to get drunk and wake up with a headache in the morning."
He leaned back on the couch, watching me now.
"Then stay," he said quietly. "Make sure the headache goes away."
With his shirt loose and his buttons undone, my gaze drifted over him — his toned arms, the hint of abs beneath the fabric…
Heavens. Were my eyes really wandering there?
I laughed awkwardly.
"What could I possibly do?"
But he didn't laugh with me.
"That's what I keep asking myself, Alicia," he said, his voice low. "What is it that you've done to me?"
I blinked, "I don't understand what you mean."
