Chapter 78 - Chapter 78: Destroy the Enemy Crystal!!

"King's Canyon?"

"Our crystal?"

Why did that sound so damn familiar?

As Instructor Terry Yan continued explaining, Vincent Fox's mind involuntarily conjured up the image of a competitive mobile game interface...

He never expected the grand national freshman tournament's battlefield to be… something like this.

Just then, Terry pulled out a huge map and laid it in front of the students.

"This is the map of King's Canyon. Take a good look!"

Everyone crowded forward to inspect it.

The moment Vincent laid eyes on the map, his suspicion instantly became certainty.

It's exactly the same as that game. The map's a perfect match. So this national tournament… is basically a 5v5 MOBA arena?

He silently roasted the idea in his heart.

Originally, with his current strength, winning the freshman championship wouldn't be difficult at all.

If this were a simple brawl, the other rookies might as well be toddlers in front of him.

But now?

It was a done deal.

He could say without the slightest exaggeration: No one knows this battleground better than I do.

In his previous life, he had spent countless days and nights grinding ranked matches. He even broke several phones in the process.

At his peak, he reached Glorious King with dozens of stars.

Maybe he wasn't one of the top-tier gods, but at the very least, his name had ranked among the national servers.

"I'll first explain the rules," said Terry.

He pointed to the three paths on the map and explained to the team, "See these three lanes? Each one leads to the enemy's crystal. Along each path are three energy towers."

"When the match begins, your first priority is to destroy the towers on your lane. Only then can you push toward and attack the enemy's crystal."

"Keep in mind, energy towers have a 50-meter detection radius. If an enemy enters this zone, the tower will automatically fire. Their attacks are powerful and perfectly accurate you can't dodge them. You'll die in just a few hits!"

"The best way to destroy a tower is to wait for our mechanical minions to enter its range. The tower will prioritize attacking the minions, giving you a window to strike."

"Similarly, if you see enemy minions approaching, clear them fast, or they'll use them to chip away at your tower."

Autumn Summer had been listening attentively this whole time.

Suddenly, she noticed a possible flaw and raised her hand.

"Yes, Autumn?" Terry asked.

"Sir," she pointed at a tower on the map, "what if someone attacks from beyond its range? Would that work? For example, I'm confident I can land a shot from 200 meters away."

She was being modest. With her current strength, even targets 1,000 meters away were within reach.

Terry chuckled. "That's a good question, and I'm glad you brought it up. But of course, that loophole has already been accounted for."

"When the towers aren't actively firing, they're in a self-defense mode. A protective energy shield covers them. While in this state, any attacks are ineffective."

"It's only when the tower is firing that this shield disappears."

Everyone nodded in understanding.

"Any other questions?" Terry asked.

The group stayed silent.

"Alright, moving on," Terry continued. "You'll also need to watch out for the mechanical minions. Though they're mindless and follow set paths, they will retaliate if you get too close. That said, they're slow and weak. As long as you don't stand still like an idiot, you'll be fine."

"Each lane spawns these minions, so you'll need players holding all three."

"There are also neutral monsters in the canyon. Killing them grants buffs like movement speed, attack boosts, and more. But two specific monsters, the Shadow Tyrant and the Abyssal Overlord, are especially dangerous. Take them on as a group if you can, because going solo is nearly impossible."

"In King's Canyon, don't be afraid of dying!"

"Even if you die, you'll be revived behind your crystal."

"Of course, try not to die needlessly. Each death increases your respawn time. If the enemy catches you out and pushes while you're down, you might lose a tower or worse, your crystal."

Terry took a deep breath and added, "My suggestion: don't try to split-push. Focus your five-man squad on one lane and work together to break through!"

"You'll be provided comms devices so you can coordinate during battle. If you run into trouble, call for help right away!"

"If you encounter an equally matched team, farm neutral monsters for buffs and wait for the right moment to group up. One good teamfight wipe could let you rush their base and take everything!"

"Victory is simple: destroy the enemy's crystal!"

Terry spoke with passion, diving deep into the mechanics of King's Canyon.

The other students listened with wide eyes and full attention.

Only Vincent…

The more he listened, the more bizarre his expression became.

He truly hadn't expected the national tournament to be done like this.

He thought it would be a traditional martial arts showdown!

So even a MOBA-themed forbidden zone exists? What about the others…? Don't tell me every forbidden zone is based on a world I'm familiar with.

As that thought settled in, he listened more seriously to Terry's words.

Gradually, he noticed something different from the original game.

For example, there was no item shop. Killing minions didn't earn gold.

Which meant…

Ultimately, it all came down to your real-world strength.

Makes sense, he thought.

This wasn't an actual video game it was still a Forbidden Zone.

No equipment, no inventory.

Just raw power.
