THE WATCHER: REVOLUTION

Episode 3: The Eyes That Feed

---

Their footsteps pounded against the metal stairwell, echoing like war drums.

The air thickened behind them, every breath growing colder, sharper—like inhaling knives.

The Watchers weren't running.

They didn't need to.

They glided through space like time bent for them, like walls parted when they came near.

They didn't chase to catch.

They chased to break your mind.

---

"Name. Now!" the girl shouted as they darted into the maintenance tunnel beneath the tenement.

"Jax! And you?"

She didn't answer.

Instead, she stopped suddenly.

He skidded beside her, nearly crashing into the rusted pipes.

She held up her hand.

Silence.

Then a whirring noise began—low at first, like a buzz from a dying light bulb.

Then louder.

Then… a whispering voice.

> "Jax... Jaaxxxx... You've already lost... blink again, and we'll eat the rest of your days..."

He turned. "What was that?!"

"Echo logic," she muttered. "They mess with your time perception. Loop your thoughts. If you listen too long, your brain melts."

"Well, that's reassuring."

She pulled a wire from under her jacket. A cracked data shard, glowing faintly. She pressed it to a hatch door. A buzz. A beep. Then click.

"Down," she said.

"What's down?"

"Not them."

---

They dropped into blackness.

Landed hard on steel mesh flooring.

No light. No exit. Just stale air and the faint red pulse of emergency lighting down a far tunnel.

Jax panted. "You gonna tell me what's happening now?"

The girl finally turned to him, face pale, freckles smudged with blood and dust.

"My name's Kira. I'm part of Cell 9."

"What the hell is Cell 9?"

"The last group still resisting."

"Resisting what?"

She hesitated. Then leaned in close, whispering like the air might turn against her if she said it too loud:

> "The Watcher Revolution."

He blinked.

She flinched. "Stop doing that!"

"I can't help it! What revolution?!"

"They were never just watching us. That was just Phase One. Now they're editing us. People don't disappear, Jax—they get erased. Identities rewritten. History rewritten. The system doesn't just see what you do—it decides what's real."

She held up a device.

It projected a hologram: his ID photo.

Then it glitched.

His name: JAX ELRIN → ERROR → UNKNOWN

His birthdate: ERROR

Citizen Code: INVALID

"No…" he breathed.

"They've already started rewriting you," she said grimly. "And once the data's gone… your body's next."

---

Suddenly, the emergency lights shut off.

Pitch black.

And then…

Footsteps. Slow. Metallic. Above them.

Kira cursed. "They've breached the maintenance grid."

"We need to move."

"Yeah," she said. "But not forward."

She turned, walked to the tunnel wall, and pressed her palm against a rusted panel.

It opened.

Revealing a chute.

"Where does that go?"

She looked back, eyes hollow. "To where they first learned to watch."

---

Without warning, she shoved him inside.

Then followed.

The panel slammed shut just as the footsteps reached the tunnel.

Dark again.

But deeper. Colder. And filled with a hum—like something massive and buried was slowly awakening.

---

🩸 To be continued…
