Chapter 1 - chapter 1 Unique starter

Eighteen years since Chiro's father went to travel to what seemed to be his last adventure. Ten years no one had heard from him. It was like he disappeared without a trace. Chiro's father was last heard going to a far away region known as "Seijin" region and disappeared without a trace.

Tomorrow marks Chiro's eighteenth birthday as he is ready to be a pokemon trainer. He seems excited but his mom seems worried. He walks to the kitchen as his mother is preparing dinner. She is cooking his favorite curry as she seems a bit solumn, but tries to remain positive despite her concern.

"Tomorrow marks your day as a pokemon trainer." She says trying to seem cheery, but her melancholic body language speaks something different. "All people leave their nest to go out on an adventure. It says so on tv." She turns to Chiro. "Almost eighteen and all grown up" she smiles sadly. "It seems almost yesterday i held you in my arms."

Chiro comforts his mother. Its no good trying to question why she is so solumn. It seems like she misses Chiro's father dearly. As they eat dinner there is an uneasy silence as they eat. After they are done eating, Chiro's mother grabs the dishes and prepares to wash them.

"You should get rest. You dont want to be late to get your pokemon." Chiro's mother says softly. Chiro nods and heads upstairs and gets ready for bed. He begins to sleep thinking of the first pokemon he would receive.

The next morning. Chiro wakes up before the crack of dawn and makes his way to professor oak's labratory. He walks outside in the quiet streets void of light except the streetlights illuminating his path. When he is in front of the labratory doors. He is surprised to see the doors of the lab unlocked. He makes his way inside, but it seems there is no one inside. There are three pokeballs on the main table for full display however. There is one that is away. The curiosity gets the best of him as he walks towards the lone pokeball and examines it. It seems similar except there is a strange aura about it. He picks up the pokeball as it begins to glow faintly.

"Here early I see." A voice sudden but friendly making Chiro place the pokeball back down quickly but carefully. Chiro turns around and sees professor oak looking at him with soft kind eyes. "And what is your name?" Professor oak asks suddenly.

"Um its Chiro sir." Chiro responds nervously knowing he got caught snooping. "The door was unlocked so I assumed the lab was available to get a starter." The professor looks surprised.

"Ah so you are Chiro," the professor proclaims in shock, "there was something your father left for you when you have come of age. That pokeball you held in your hands is that precise thing. No need to be shy. You were curious to see what is inside, yes? Its okay you can bring it out of its pokeball."

Chiro hesitantly picks up the pokeball and throws it up in the air. A gengar appears from the pokeball. She is a bit different than normal gengars. She is anthropomorphic.

"Huh? I got picked? You! You chose me? Nerd!" She says with a smirk clearly amused yet happy that she finally got to be with a trainer after all these years. Chiro understands her language with ease but the professor thinks she's just saying her name.

"Shes a sassy one isnt she?" The professor exclaims. "A mysterious figure gave me her to hold until you came to get your starter."

"She's perfect" chiro responds hastilly. The professor lets out a soft sigh and smiles in understanding. The female gengar smiles knowing I accepted her as a starter.

"Good. Unlike most starters, you're starting off with an advanced pokemon. One not easy to command. You'll need to get some gym badges before you can command her efficiently." Professor oak states, "In the mean time, you should also get a starter from the table. One to help you out in the beginning until you get some badges. Pick a second. Go on now."

Chiro goes to the table and examines the pokeballs in a machine. Each pokeball has a hologram of what pokemon is inside it above each pokeball. Chiro studies carefully and ends up choosing bulbasaur. "I choose bulbasaur."

The professor looks at chiro and nods, "Bulbasaur is an excellent choice and is easy to raise. Now before you set out on your journey, I have one small favor for you to carry out. I am expecting a parcel to be delivered in Veridian City. Unfortunately I am up to my neck on research. If you can deliver it to me, you would have my deepest gratitude."

"Of course professor. I will head there right away and retrieve your parcel for you." Chiro says diligently. "I will make haste."

"Thats a good lad." Professor oak responds, "but be weary, wild pokemon are on the route to the next city and may attack. Be on your guard. Since you have bulbasaur and gengar with you, you should not have too much trouble. Just be careful."

"Yes sir." Chiro responds before setting out to his task. Getting the parcel from Veridian City alongside his two new companions bulbasaur and gengar.
