"Yellow potential!" Bell marveled. After over a week of cocooned isolation, his gamble with the Evergreen Berry had paid off.
"I can fly now!"
Testing his wings, Bell felt instinct take over. A gentle flap generated lift—flight was etched into his DNA. Still, as a newborn Butterfree, he needed practice.
Three Minutes Later
With careful wingbeats, Bell achieved his first solo flight, leaving the hollow that had sheltered him through two evolutions.
"Wait... my shed exoskeleton's still in there."
A thought struck him: If eggshells grant EXP, why not my molted shell?
The logic was flawless. This shell had catalyzed his metamorphosis—it had to be nutritious. Missing this would be like passing up a Rare Candy!
After a brief internal debate ("It's my shell—how toxic could it be?"), Bell dove back inside.
There it was—a translucent husk with a small rupture where he'd emerged.
Crunch.
"Hey, not bad! Crispy!"
Soon, the entire shell was devoured. His abdomen swelled satisfyingly... then began to burn.
"Why so hot...?"
Dizziness followed. Deeming himself safe, Bell surrendered to sleep.
Next Morning
Sunlight and system chimes roused him:
[Ding! Level Up! Current Level: Lv. 11]
[Ding! Learned Psychic!]
"What?! I leveled up in my sleep? And got a Psychic-type move?!"
Updated Status:
Host: Butterfree (Bell)
Type: Bug/Flying
Potential: Yellow
Level: Lv. 11
New Move:
Psychic (Psychic-type)
Bell made a vow: From now on, I'm eating every evolution-related shell I find. No exceptions.
Though rare for Butterfree to learn Telekinesis, the move was a game-changer—especially against the forest's Poison-types. Combined with flight, his survival odds had skyrocketed.
"Time to leave this hollow."
The tree cavity could no longer accommodate him. With one last glance at his first home, Bell took to the skies.
Survival Tip #1: Fly low. Altitude attracts Pidgeotto.
Guided by instinct, he headed where his antennae tingled—likely his species' gathering grounds.
Below, Pokémon battled for territory and prey. Bell kept his distance until—
Whoosh!
His antennae twitched a warning. He jerked upward as a Rattata's Shadow Sneak grazed his underbelly.
"Prey? Let's see who's hunting whom."
Eyes glowing pink, Bell unleashed Psychic The Rattata floated helplessly before being Gust-slammed into a tree.
Screech!
Three attacks later, the Rattata fainted.
"That could've been me..." Bell shuddered. Finishing the job with another Psychic, he fled as blood scent drew predators.
Behind him, rustling foliage hinted at approaching carnivores. The forest's cycle continued—but Bell was no longer part of its food chain.
