The sky over Konoha had turned a gentle amber by the time Team 1 wrapped up their genin mission. After a simple yet tiring task of helping reinforce the academy's training grounds, Ren said his goodbyes to Kenji and Aika before splitting off toward the shopping district.
With a calm stride, Ren walked through the market lanes, picking up groceries: vegetables, rice, and a couple of instant ramen cups for Naruto. As he waited in line at the counter, he glanced down at the small slip of paper that displayed his account balance.
"Still decent," he muttered. Then a quiet smirk pulled at his lips. "Though... maybe I should ask the Hokage for a raise."
Bag in hand, he made his way home through the quieter streets, weaving between alleys and rooftops. His thoughts drifted as he walked — not to his team or the mission, but inward.
"I've focused so much on Wind and Fire. But what about the others? I have all five. What's the point if I don't train them?"
He slowed to a stop beneath the shade of a tree, the soft rustling of leaves overhead.
"Tomorrow," he decided. "I'll ask Arata-sensei if he can help guide me. And maybe... the Hokage too."
He looked up toward the distant tower.
"He's neglected me and Naruto in the past, but... they don't call him 'The Professor' for nothing. If anyone can guide me in mastering all five chakra natures—it's him."
The wind picked up slightly, brushing his hair across his forehead protector. With a calm breath, Ren resumed his walk home, the bag of groceries light in his hand, but his thoughts heavy with intent.
Tomorrow would be a step toward deeper mastery.
