Chapter 1 - Cinematic Death

The railing broke.

I was falling. The final thing I saw was some bastard crouching. I scoffed; he was hiding as though I could not see him.

Splash!

Water entered my mouth, nose, and ears. And all I could feel was the sharpness of water.

I almost wanted to sigh.

Could this day get any worse?

First, my manager chewed me out for falling asleep while working. Not my fault, I had a lot of webnovels to read at two in the morning. Maybe.

Secondly, my favorite story of all time, 'Glass. Rust. Salt.' disappeared. Not just deleted. It vanished like it never existed in the first place. What fantasy am I living in?

Thirdly, some psychopath pushed me off a bridge while I was mourning my beloved novel.

I know it was a psychopath.

How?

Because I don't get out enough to make enemies.

Well, at least I am dying in a cinematic manner.

At least it's over.

Or that's what I thought.

Because when I opened my eyes, I was in the middle of a war. And some half-beast thing was about to kill me.

Again.

Ah, yes.

Fate.

I just decided to get impaled by the spear.

The blow never came.

So I opened my eyes and saw a black haired guy in front of me. He was shielding me.

I had two thoughts.

Woohoo, plot armor! That was the protagonist of GRSI'm going to die.

The third thought was a random realization when another sword came for me.

It cost the protagonist an arm. Fuck.

It's not like the protagonist was a favorite of mine, anyway.

So, I ran away, letting the strong do their work.

[That was cowardly]

A voice whispered in my ear. I'm going to assume it was the system.

Well, I am not known for being brave! So, thank you, next please.

[Skill: Sloth lvl 1]

Was this system high?

Something with horns aimed a sword at me. I somehow dodged. God bless my late-night gymnastics!

And I ran and ran.

I saw a tent, yellow and black. Were they bumblebees?

I ran inside it.

I closed the opening.

Silence.

I sighed.

When I turned around, something poked me on my neck.

I looked up.

[This is the enemy country's tent]

Very helpful.

When the spear started to pierce my neck, "I–I came here to offer insights!"

They stopped. My neck was bleeding.

I held my neck and felt my blood drip off my palm.

They were about to attack me again.

"Please believe me, I am a spy sent by the prime minister!" I don't want to die anymore, not in this world.

[Skill: Lying lvl 1]

I turned my head and scanned the room. The flag was yellow with a black sun.

It was the country of Frena.

Perfect plot armor.

[Skill: Delusional lvl 1]

"Your highness, Prime Minister Bermon and I have been talking, you protect me and my family, you shall get the national secrets," I said, my lips felt dry. I almost licked them.

It was true that Prime Minister Bermon had a spy, more like he was a spy. I could leverage that. Probably.

Plus, Bermon was a nice character.

I liked his arc.

"What insights do you offer?" A man clad in gold and royal blue asked. He was the king, I think.

"What is the date?" I asked.

There was silence.

"1100srg," Someone said, and I almost giggled at the detail.

I breathed. It was the protagonist's first war against Frena.

"There is a spy amongst you." The man just raised an eyebrow.

There were several people who were, but let's go with someone easy to manage.

"The commander of Loure station has been sending signals as to when we would attack," I said in a clear voice.

"Is that so?" His voice was raspy. He definitely was the king. The protagonist described his raspy voice a million times.

"Yes." I nodded.

"Is that all?" He tilted his head.

"I would tell you everything, but you would kill me." I grinned.

"Smart girl." He smirked.

What did this guy think I was, his dog?

I smiled.

I rubbed my palms together; the dry blood had clotted.

They sure trusted me easily.

"Don't think we trust you, it is quite clear that you are lying." The king said, I looked into his eyes.

"But then, there is also truth?"

He laughed.

[Skill: Bluff lvl 1]

This shitty system!

"Then I will be going—"

"Now, now, don't be delusional." The king raised his arm, and the knights caught my arm.

This was bound to happen.

This much was thinkable.

I laughed.

Loud and vibrant, as though this were a circus.

"You think you will win without me?"

[Skill: Delusional lvl 2]

"If I don't go back, the man with black hair and red eyes will go feral and destroy your whole unit."

[Skill: Liar lvl 2]

"All you would be is bones in his presence!"

[Skill: Exaggeration lvl 1]

"He is an otherworldly that is fated in your scribes!"

[Skill: Sloth lvl 2]

"The one that would bring forth destruction and glory!"

[Skill: Dramatic lvl 1]

Well, half of that was true. The protagonist was a good guy who would do anything for his comrades. And an otherworldly fated to unite. Not destroy.

But they don't have to know that.

I smirked as though I were the king.

The king looked at me.

He sighed, then said, "Go, then, but if you don't come back by tomorrow noon, your family you spoke of will be killed."

He was definitely lying about something, but I could not understand what.

"Yes, your highness." I bowed.

I walked away, one last look.

The man was laughing.

I was going to run away.

Fuck everything.

I don't even have a family!

I ran and ran.

I was happy and sort of worried about what would happen.

This life of mine was a mess.

If I run away, it would be best if I go to Briti—

I've got to say, I might have gotten a little careless.

The last thing I felt was pain.

This body's head flew away, and all that remained was a running body that soon fell. A sword of a random guy cut through me.

I could see before I died, a faraway image of the king smirking.

Shitty choice.

[Chae Yeonnok has died!]

Damn.

Two cinematic deaths in one day?

That's crazy.
