Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

"Wow, Yinyin!" Shunya appeared right in front of Ji Yuying, eyes sparkling with awe.

Ji Yuying glanced at him, doubtful. She turned away, her back now facing the cottage—unaware of a small head peeking from behind the broken door.

Or rather, she had already sensed the presence but chose to ignore it.

There was no malice, no intent to attack—so she didn't care. She wasn't a mindless, ruthless maniac who killed for no reason.

Still... wasn't he even a little scared of her? She had just slapped a man's head clean off.

"Wow! You're just like Immortal Fairy Liu Ju!" Shunya exclaimed, stars in his eyes.

Ji Yuying's brow twitched.

That name. That name.

Immortal Fairy Liu Ju was the heroine of a weekly Wuxia drama that Shunya was obsessed with.

And he had the gall to compare her—an actual cultivator—to some overhyped fictional character from television.

She glared at him as he circled her like a crazed fan meeting his idol. Without warning, she grabbed him by the collar and jumped high into the air.

She began gliding across the sky, covering vast distances with ease.

"Isn't that the legendary lightness skill that Immortal Fairy Liu Ju used in her early cultivation? So cool!" Shunya shouted with childlike excitement.

"If you compare me to those clowns on TV one more time, I'll drop you right here," Ji Yuying said coldly, her patience finally wearing thin.

Shunya abruptly shut his mouth, though he still giggled like a schoolgirl enjoying the sensation of flying.

Ji Yuying sighed at her overly excitable husband and decided to ignore him for now.

What neither of them noticed was the small child still hiding behind the broken doorway of the cottage, watching them fly away.

His eyes were wide with awe and filled with worship—especially for the big sister who had killed Master Lu with just one slap.

He was Wei Fan, great-grandson of Patriarch Wei, the renowned ancient martial arts master.

Wei Fan had been kidnapped and used as bait to trap his great-grandfather. While dragging secular family members into martial conflicts was frowned upon by the so-called orthodox 'Martial Circle,' there were always those like Master Lu who believed results mattered more than ethics.

Such dirty tactics had become more common in recent years. It followed a very simple principle:

Strength decides what is right.

But if caught, these people were branded as criminals by the martial world.

Wei Fan, just eight years old, had been used in this disgusting scheme.

Though he had wanted to call out to the two who had saved him, the big sister seemed a little too scary... and that uncle looked kind of weird.

So he stayed quiet.

Besides, the fairy-like sister had already flown away—and even his grandfather couldn't fly like that.

Just as Wei Fan stared at the sky where Ji Yuying and Shunya had vanished, a black, low-profile Bentley tore into the compound.

It screeched to a halt in front of the cottage.

Two people stepped out: one was an elderly man wearing a dark green Tang suit embroidered with golden threads. The other was a strikingly handsome young man, around twenty-seven.

Their expressions instantly changed when they saw the carnage. Worry overtook them as their eyes darted around in search of Wei Fan.

Before they could even call out, a small and delicate voice rang out:

"Grandfather!"

Wei Liang, the old man, turned sharply toward the sound and saw Wei Fan running toward him.

"Xiaofan!" he called out, relief washing over him as he caught the child in his arms.

He hugged his grandson tightly.

He had been terrified when he'd learned that his only great-grandson had been kidnapped by a martial cultivator. Using a child in such a scheme—it was the filthiest tactic.

He had recognized it for what it was: a trap. But he had no choice but to spring it to rescue his blood.

Wei Fan leapt into his grandfather's embrace, and Wei Liang carefully looked him over.

"Xiaofan, are you okay? Did you get hurt anywhere?" he asked, checking for injuries.

"I'm okay, Grandfather," Wei Fan replied, nodding reassuringly.

"What happened here, Xiaofan?" asked the young man beside them, glancing around at the bodies in confusion. "We were expecting an ambush, not... this."

"Fourth Uncle, a fairy big sister did this!" Wei Fan said excitedly, pointing at the now-ruined cottage.

The older Wei family members exchanged confused glances.

"A... young woman did this?" Wei Shun, the fourth uncle, asked skeptically. "Did she talk to you? Do you know her name?"

"No. She didn't talk to me. She just flew away with her silly giant husband after beating all the bad guys," Wei Fan explained, still pointing in the direction the couple had vanished.

Wei Shun wanted to ask more questions, but Wei Liang raised his hand.

"Enough for now, Shun. Let's take Xiaofan to the hospital for a check-up."

Wei Shun nodded and gently picked Wei Fan up, settling back into the car with him.

Wei Liang lingered for a moment longer, his sharp eyes scanning the scene.

The ruined taxi. The bodies. The collapsed door.

He could piece together what must've happened.

That couple—especially the young woman—must've been brought here under false pretenses. Master Lu and his men probably provoked her, and in retaliation, they were slaughtered.

To kill three Qi masters at the initial stage and a mid-level Qi master like Master Lu…

And his grandson said she flew away.

That meant she could use Qi externally.

A Grandmaster.

A young Grandmaster—here, in this small city?

And she had saved his great-grandson, even if unintentionally.

Wei Liang stood still for a moment longer, thoughtful.

"If fate allows," he murmured to himself, "this old man would like to thank her in person."

He turned around and got back into the car, the door closing with a quiet click.

Wei Liang decided to take his grandson to Ling hospital to get his grandson check for any hidden injuries.

For peace of his mind.
