It was the first day of the second month in the 19th year of the 20th century.
The sun blazed mercilessly, and the temperature had already risen to 45°C. No wind blew to offer even a hint of relief. The time was 7:55 AM, and schools in the city usually started at 8:00.
A boy in ragged clothes, carrying a worn-out backpack, was sprinting along the ring road toward DAV High School, located in the northwestern part of Kolkata. His name was Xiao Tian.
Despite his poor appearance, Xiao Tian had a handsome face, jet-black hair that shone in the sunlight, and bright, clear eyes that could melt even the coldest heart. Yet, because of his poverty, most people ignored him. He didn't mind, though. He was innocent, and never let the cruelty of the world affect him.
Just as he neared the school, he collided with a man dressed in expensive clothes, exuding an air of wealth and arrogance.
"**You *** *! Are you **** blind or what?!" the man yelled angrily.
Startled, Xiao Tian quickly bowed and said, "I'm sorry, sir!" But his eyes nervously checked the time—he was already late.
The man grew even more furious. "Do you know how much this shirt cost? A hundred thousand! Because of you, I'm late for an important— You ***! Who's going to take responsibility for this?!"
Xiao Tian trembled in fear, nearly about to wet himself.
Suddenly, a Ferrari sped toward them, on the verge of crashing into the man. Without thinking, Xiao Tian lunged forward and pulled the man out of the way—saving his life.
But the Ferrari couldn't stop in time. It struck an elderly man nearby, who collapsed to the ground, bleeding and unconscious.
A crowd gathered, but no one stepped forward to help. Xiao Tian, innocent and kind-hearted, wanted to take the man to the hospital, but then he remembered—today was his last warning from "Tyrant Teacher" Zhu.
He had been late for the past nine days. One more time, and he would lose his right to take the college entrance exam. He didn't want that to happen.
It wasn't that he enjoyed being late—every morning, Xiao Tian delivered newspapers and milk to support himself. He lived with his only family, an elderly woman named Xin Lan, who wasn't his biological grandmother, but had raised him like her own since finding him abandoned near a gutter when he was just four years old. To Xiao Tian, she was his grandmother—his only real family.
By the time Xiao Tian reached school, it was 8:50 AM. The first period had already ended.
As he raced toward his classroom, he accidentally bumped into someone. His lips brushed against theirs.
Time froze.
To Xiao Tian, her lips were soft—like ripe, juicy mangoes. But before he could react, she slapped him instinctively and ran away.
He was too panicked and late to see who she was.
If he had looked, he would have been shocked—it was none other than Su Han, the most beautiful girl in the school. Mysterious and unapproachable, Su Han had an aura that kept most at a distance. Only the Four Young Masters of DAV dared to get close to her. With powerful family backgrounds, those four ruled the school.
Xiao Tian finally reached the door to Class 3-C, the final year of high school. He opened it cautiously.
A shrill voice rang out before he could step inside.
"You trash and useless piece of garbage! You finally showed up! I already gave you nine chances—this is your tenth! Get ready now!"The voice was filled with malice.
A wicked smile followed. 😈👹☠️
