It's dark outside, around 9:45pm . It's May 22nd 2032.
Outside a big circular research facility, on the building it spells 'K.R.A.D.D' and under it in bold black lettering it says 'Kalos Research and Development Department.
There seems to be an event happening as there is a crowd outside, as well as news reporters from all different departments.
Inside the building are a group of scientists. They're in a lab getting ready to do a world experiment they have been preparing for a long time.
They have ran all the necessary tests and got optimal results and it has led to this moment right now.
"Everything is ready , Mr Kradd sir!" One of the scientists says to one with black medium long messy and thick glasses. He looks as if they are the leader
"Excellent! Begin!!" He demands.
The circular roof opens up and a machine gets elevated up and it begins to glow powering up as electricity like elements flow into it.
The machine taps into the world's natural magnetic field and boosts its pulling strength, which pulls different objects from outside our orbit into the world; a blueish green light engulfs earths and a lot of different objects fly towards Earth;
Everyone is thrilled and excited! They're hard work has finally paid off and they would be able to study aliens , foreign objects and learn more in the name of science, however , something with the extraordinary scientific event went wrong!…
It seemed to have malfunctioned somewhere and used a lot more power , pulling some objects bigger than what they accounted for and with a lot more force.
The alarms scream and everyone emotions drop from joy into panic instantly...
Outside is a meteorite shower crashing down into buildings destroying the city of Kalos. Civilians screaming , police and ambulance sirens blaring and one small mysterious object fell off a big one and landed in a young man's garden!
A few minutes earlier around the corner from K.R.A.D.D.
Kaleb King's household. A young black man, 17 years of age. He has twists that reaches the bottom of his face and blue eyes with golden brown skin.
He sits there wearing a black and blue outfit with a crown graphic. He is watching the event live streamed from his television.
Kaleb noticed what was happening while watching the event. The crowd screaming as the camera shakes , sirens in the background. Suddenly there's a noise
'Beep'
Kaleb got a message notification coming through to his mobile phone. It's from his best friend Jamie. Asking if he has seen what is happening , he texted back with a 'yes it's getting crazy'.
Suddenly his house began shaking a little bit then heard a loud crashing noise outside. The house shakes even more violently and Kaleb went to go check it out.
He opens the back garden door and there's smoke was coming out of a crater. He walks over to investigate and as he stuck his head out to have a look… the floor caved in and his foot slipped. Tripping down the hole hitting his head on the strange blue object and fell unconscious instantly; however when he awoke he found himself in a mysterious place. He has never been before nor could anything like this before. he couldn't even begin to fathom what is happening.
"Huh? What is this? I was just in my garden" he says in a world that looks like a dream like world.
It's a mixed of blue and a hint of a pinkish purple. Suddenly the area began to change before his eyes and saw a very prominent memory of his that he tried to bury.
His fathers death. But from a different standpoint and had to witness it again...
"No , this can't be!"
But this time a voice spoke as if the world he was in was communicating with him...it said 'imagine saving him! How would you save him? What would you do'...
He was no longer the little kid who kept his eyes open and watched as his father shielded them from the flames!
Suddenly his eyes light up and he disappears and appeared at the place in front of his father and tried to stop the accident but what's done is done it can't be changed!
As everything fades turning into smoke before disappearing...Suddenly he woke up screaming shocked with tears in his eyes but he brushed it off as a weird dream as he wiped his eyes.
"That was the most weirdest dream I've ever had in my life , never again" Kaleb says
He notices the blue rock from the corner of his eyes picking it up, however the luminous blue light that was in the stone vanished leaving just an empty blue shell...but where could it have gone?
Kaleb's eyes had that exact same hint of a glowing blue light in his eyes, it was shining then it vanished just as quick.
The following year everything changed...his powers started manifesting...he began noticing his senses has heightened. He could hear things he couldn't before and from far distances too. He could also see as far too and then one day it happened...changing everything!
He was fast asleep and then suddenly vanished! waking up in another room the morning after lost and confused. He couldn't explain why because he has never sleep walked once , but to make sure wanted to do an experiment to see what is happening.
He locked the door and windows to the point he couldn't escape and fell asleep , that same night he went to sleep and he woke up out of the house in a field. Behind his home all the way at the backside off the forest but had no idea or any evidence that he has tread through the woods!
However due to him having his doubts he remembered he recorded for this exact moment.
He goes back home and gets the recording of last night to see if he could figure out what could have happened…The footage was something that he was not expecting!!
He was sleeping in bed however it seemed like he woke up…no definitely still asleep. In a half sleep-like state and his eyes began to light up.
It looked like a blue ring that was constantly spinning until the same blue and pinkish light lit bright and blinded the camera and in an instant he was gone for the rest of the video.
He couldn't explain it at first until he started to think back to the rock and how it looked when he first saw it.
"The colour of the stone that time not to mention the 'dream' keeps coming back but as visions every now and then!" Kaleb thinks to himself
"Maybe it's a lot more than just dreams" he says aloud
A couple days after he found out about his powers there had been 'unexplainable incidents' have been happening lately.
The same day on his way to school by doing parkour on the buildings until he looked below in an alley and saw his friend (genius/hacker/mechanic) hair is golden as the sun with brown highlights, wearing a back and green outfit with 'JT' written on it. Which means Johnson tech, which is also the same as the tech used by the police to arrest criminals.
Jamie's father is the head of the company.
It appeared as if he is getting bullied punched and kicked on the floor and it seemed they wouldn't stop so Kaleb decided to try to use his powers.
Kaleb thinks to himself "I have no idea what I'm doing , I hope this works...screw it."
He managed to teleport to him and grab him and teleport to safety on a nearby roof before anyone had eyes on him because of his hood, because it was his friend he forgot to hide his identity and went straight to cheering
"yes!! I did it on command , I think I'm finally getting the hang of this" Kaleb says turning before noticing
He turns around. It's too late! His hood went down and that his friend saw his face knowing his secret. Jamie was shocked at first but came to terms with it pretty quickly as it's still his best friend and he saved him!
More than once at that.
Jamie then asked him a question that changed everything...
"Now that you have actual powers. Should we try that superhero stuff that we always wanted to after reading all those comics? Could be like the greats!"
At first he was hesitant because he wouldn't know where to start and he doesn't really have confidence in himself with how to control his powers but Jamie has an idea!
They continue their way to school and Kaleb is second guessing their conversation from earlier
"Do you really think I have what it takes to be a 'Hero'? I feel like it's a big responsibility" Kaleb asks doubting himself
"Bro yes I do! Do you remember how we first met?" Jamie asks
"Yeah I do, why?" Kaleb replies confused
"Not the way I do! , me being young and stupid went too far with my experiments and went a little to high up and was scared , you the new kid who didn't know me decide to do crazy stunts to get to the top and saved me...your reply was "you looked like you needed help" if that isn't a heart of a hero than I don't know what is!" Jamie expresses.
"I suppose so" Kaleb responds laughing embarrassed
They reach to their school and they first bump as they go in
"Meet back here afterwards?, I got a little surprise to show you when we're done " Jamie asks
"For sure bro" Kaleb responds
Outside of an abandoned building—
"My dad brought this property and since he had no use for it he said I can use it for my inventions" Jamie says happily showing Kaleb his brand new treasure.
"What do you think?" Jamie adds
"Ehh i don't know about this one chief" Kaleb says looking around
"Just gotta have the vision bro" Jamie replies back quickly as him and Kaleb is walking to an abandoned property.
It's a rundown place that has been left for over 3 years. Jamie decided to take Kaleb underground and find a space that looks like it can be a secret lair and says 'I GOTCHA'
The next day
Jamie got his fathers people to work and started bringing in computers, desks. Before you know it, the secret area looks like a blue lair with computer systems and martial arts dummies for training. Before they went into saving the world the hero needed training to see if he could use his powers properly...
On top of the lair was the abandoned building with mess everywhere which looked like an obstacle course!
His first training session is learning the course and how to run it with no powers using his parkour skills.
He has trained himself since he was younger and noticed that his strength , reaction and senses has heightened immensely allowing him to move a lot differently than he used to.
"Woah this feels a lot different , I feel stronger yet lighter" Kaleb says while looking at his hands trying to figure out what's happening.
When he got used to it he decided to activate and use his powers to spice things up a bit while he was running jumped and teleported, leaving a small blue and pinkish cloud outline of himself as he lands on to a bar and tried to jump off but teleported into a wall crashing quite hard.
"That's a lot harder to do! But I'm getting the hang of it now.
Kaleb has always been a fast learner and by the next week when he went to train. He ran the course so perfectly his eyes had the blue ring.
The same one he had when he recorded himself earlier and looked like he gained enough control on when and how to use his teleportation technique properly.
He thought because he now knows how to use it that he is ready to go and save the world!
"I think i'm ready! I got the hang of it" Kaleb says excited
Jamie then revealed something that he was working on while he was training...he then showed him a black and blue suit with a Blue ring in the middle! However the suit wasn't the best it could be due to money and resources. He couldn't use his fathers money for this and have it trace back to him but it would hide his identity for now.
The computer started beeping and Jamie says
"the police scanner is responding and that there's an accident, you should get over there!"
Kaleb wastes no time! Takes the suit and puts it and runs out and teleports outside , however there's a limit he has to see his target. Even with his heightened eyes the area he needed to go was a little too far.
He keeps teleporting till he reaches the accident site however was exhausted by the time he got there and couldn't fight properly. Fatigue has built up. Tired from jumping Kaleb got destroyed badly by the bad guy and he got a way.
The police cars and officers arrive trying to take control of the scene however Kaleb has already teleported out of there to on top of a tree until he gained his stamina to go back to the lair!
When he got back to the lair he was angry that he let the bad guy get away so he tried to quit
"I can't believe that just happened! I told you this hero stuff isn't for me!" Kaleb expresses angrily
Until Jamie stepped in and told him
"Don't let it get to you no one managed to get hurt did they? No it just goes to show that you need a little more training on your stamina/how far you can teleport and how to fight the bad guys".
"You could always think about using the martial arts you've learned" Jamie adds
"That's true , I didn't really think about that in the moment" Kaleb responds
Kaleb learned martial arts from young. Due to that years of training growing up he had a pretty good grasp on how to fight he wanted to see if he could add his powers into fightinng. He punches and kicks while teleporting so fast the human eyes couldn't see any movement at all only trial of a blue and pink light attacking the dummy.
Before you know it the dummy is destroyed and his clothes too and that gives the friend an idea to change some things to the suit so that don't happen while his fighting crime!
As soon as Jamie finished the new suit and said "while you was in the chamber fighting the dummy it calculated how fast you was moving and I made tweaked the design and the suit itself so it'll be able to handle that type of teleportation speed even if you went 10x faster, you can thank my smarts for that"
Suddenly not long after the police scanner went off reporting another accident but it seemed to be the same person, Jamie then said "perfect timing! Are you ready?"
Kaleb replied "I was born ready! Time to get him back!"
Kaleb puts on the new suit , it's a hooded suit with a full mask however the bottom looks like a separate mask. The top half is black with white eyes and the bottom is the blue and pink mixed like the torso , inner thighs and arms and feet, the legs are black.
He is really enjoying it! He then leaves the lair to go fight the bad guy , before it took him 10 teleportations to get to the scene but this time only 4!
He managed to improve in that short amount of time by changing the way he teleports.
Now he creates portals purely from his powers alone and can launch himself out of them creating momentum allowing him to move further distances with just one teleport.
He had all his stamina and could fight! He wanted to catch the bad guy by surprise so teleported to the top of the building then teleported so fast towards the bad guy.
"Boo!" Shift says quickly
Scaring the juggernaut and Shift started teleporting everywhere while continually attacking him. Slightly cracking his armour.
From the outside looking in all you can see a blue and a faint pink light. Flying around the place at high speed , illuminating the place.
He leaves the man unconscious for the police to pick him up and vanishes back to the lair.
When he got back to the lair he celebrated with Jamie happy that his training paid off. Now he can officially save people as he knows how to control his powers with a lot more precision!
On the news broadcast a reporter is reporting what happened at the scene.
"They say that the person responsible for the attacks have been arrested. It was all thanks to the blue spark. Everyone who saw what happened all reports the same 'they saw a blue light like a Blue Spark' "just what exactly is going on is Kalos" they said
"Kaleb, did you hear that?" Jamie asks
Kaleb responds "Hear what?"
"They basically named you already bro , You're Hero name! They called you The Blue Spark"
Kaleb's face drops down with disappointment.
"Blue Spark? I mean it's okay but I expected my name to be something way better , plus you already know my hero name as it's the one from our childhood games with everyone" Kaleb explains
The computer beeps
Jamie to the computer , turning the speakers on. Suddenly you hear the police radio.
"Report! There's a bank robbery right now. There seems to be a super powered robber in the bank. I repeat a bank robbery in progress and he has powers"
"We need to do something!" Shift states
Jamie turns his chair around facing towards the desk with a suitcase in hand and puts it on the desk and slides it towards Kaleb and says
"I knew you'd say that so I already added something to the suit"
Before Jamie could say anything else Kaleb is already changing into his superhero outfit opening a portal underneath him and launching him outside through another one he opened.
Makes his way to the bank teleporting to each portal rip as they disappear and reappear to his will.
Shift thinks to himself ' the suit feels good and I'm most happy about this logo! It's exactly how I saw it in the games we used to play , I gotta thank him when I get back'
In no time Kaleb reaches the outside of the bank. He is standing in the air on top of his portal made solid and sees the police cars surrounding the building…suddenly a huge explosion occurs blasting away the door and a juggernaut rock armored guy walks out.
A circle made up of 5 rocks floating above the juggernaut on each side. He takes 3 from each sides and combines them into a bigger rock , launching it towards the policemen standing in front of a squad car.
They all start running however they quickly notice they have no time…but then a big portal opens up swallowing the rock. The big juggernaut guy looks confused
"Huh? , what just happened?"
However another portal opens up behind him and that same rock comes flying out hitting him in the back of the head, catching him off guard.
he stands up
"What the...who did that? Show yourself"
Suddenly a voice says
"Show myself? I've been showing myself the whole time...nobody ever looks up" Kaleb says
Everyone looks up and they see the Superhero, they question "who is this?"
The big guy shouts "why don't you get down!!
The big rock juggernaut starts shooting the rocks from his shoulder like a machine gun continuously in the air towards Kaleb. However Kaleb keeps disappearing and reappearing in and out of his portals dodging them all.
"Hey didn't your parents ever tell you it's bad manners to throw rocks" Kaleb shouts to the man
'I need to figure out a way to break his shield' thinks to himself
"Time to Shift gears!!" Kaleb says
Kaleb closes the gap by teleporting towards him continuously at high speeds around him distracting him.
Shift quickly opens a portal underneath him swallowing his legs restricting his movements. Kaleb disappears through one and reappears through the one underneath the rock juggernaut. Suddenly Shift flies out with a punch. It lands but not enough force!
Kaleb begins thinking of a way to increase his strength suddenly his ability deepens as he begins to imagine more, boosting his sense and strength to higher levels.
Suddenly around his hand his energy seems to be forming a rocket glove of some sort. Kaleb notices and feels the power. Soon after the glove ignites. Speeding up the uppercut as it connects to the juggernauts chest.
Sending him flying upwards towards a portal shattering the armour knocking out the man.
The police to arrest him and put him in holding , it would appear their JT handcuffs.
Suddenly the police aim their weapons towards Kaleb and he instinctively puts his hands up. However because everyone was cheering and the fact he saved the captain's life earlier he ordered them to stop and put their weapons down. They follow his orders and someone shouts a question...
"Hey so what's your name?"
"Oh boy this is awkward' 'what do I say? Oh I know' he thinks to himself
"It would have to be 'Shift!'
he says heroically before going through his portal and teleporting away back to base."
