"Equal treatment?" Arthur's voice was deceptively calm as he set down his coffee cup.
Marcus had overplayed his hand, thinking he was cornering his brother with his supposedly clever maneuver. The desperation in his eyes was almost pathetic.
"I absolutely agree that equal treatment is fair," Arthur continued, watching his brother's face light up with premature triumph. "So yes, I'll accept the transfer of those shares that were rightfully mine since my marriage."
I glanced at Arthur, surprised by his easy capitulation. This wasn't like him.
"Excellent," Marcus said, barely containing his smugness. "I'll have the paperwork drawn up immediately."
"Of course, there's just one small condition," Arthur added casually.
The satisfied smile froze on Marcus's face. "Condition?"
