The silence in Julian's car was deafening as we sped toward the villa. The streetlights cast shifting shadows across his face, highlighting the tension in his jaw. My phone felt heavy in my hand after I'd made the call.
"I can't believe you called the human police," Julian finally said, his knuckles white against the steering wheel.
"I can't believe you're surprised," I shot back, staring straight ahead. "Your grandmother is dead. Murdered. Did you expect me to trust pack justice when you've failed us so completely?"
He flinched as if I'd struck him. "This is pack business, Aurelia."
"No. This is murder." My voice remained steady despite the storm raging inside me. "Natalie killed our daughter, and now she's killed your grandmother. I won't let you sweep this under the rug too."
