Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

After sitting lost in thought for quite a while, Elsa finally tried calling Dr. Kelvin and asked for his advice, as she had no one else to turn to. After telling Dr. Kelvin what she had experienced at school since before the accident,

"Oh, that's quite troublesome, isn't it? So you want to move to Jakarta?" Kelvin asked.

"Yes, Doctor. Can your acquaintance help me with the transfer?" Elsa asked.

"Hmm, let me ask first. There's also a junior high school there, but let me check. I'll let you know tonight," Kelvin replied.

"Okay, Doctor, thank you, sorry for the trouble," Elsa replied.

"It's okay. I'm also responsible for offering it to you," Kelvin replied.

"Thank you, Doctor. I'll wait," Elsa replied.

After the phone call ended, Elsa fell back into thought. She pondered deeply and then realized something.

"Eh, that's strange. Since when could I think like this? Usually, I just surrender and accept everything, then maybe complain or confide. Maybe this is Auntie's influence too, I feel a little more mature... no, not just a little, a lot. This is the first time I've made an important decision in my life," Elsa thought to herself.

Elsa went into her room. She got out of her wheelchair and opened the closet. She started packing her clothes. After that, she went to her grandparents' room. She took all her personal data, the house certificate, and her grandparents' data. That night, Kelvin informed her that his friend in Jakarta would handle Elsa's transfer to a school in Jakarta. He also gave her his friend's number in Jakarta so she could contact him directly.

Two days later, Elsa arrived at school for the first time in a long time, but she didn't go to class. Instead, she went to the principal's office and explained the purpose of her visit.

"Oh, so that's how it is. You have relatives who want you to be with them and go to school in Jakarta," the principal said.

"Yes, that's right, sir. So I came here to ask for a transfer letter from here to take there later," Elsa replied.

"I understand, sir. It must be tough living alone at home," the principal said.

"Yes, sir, there are many memories," Elsa replied.

"Alright, I'll prepare it. You don't have to come here tomorrow. I'll just entrust it to Meri to deliver the letter to your house," the principal said.

"No need, sir. I'll come myself; it's a good excuse for a walk," Elsa replied.

"Oh, in that case, what time do you want to come?" the principal asked.

"Morning, sir, around 8 o'clock," Elsa replied.

"Alright, then just stop by here tomorrow, okay?" the principal said to Elsa.

"Thank you, sir," Elsa replied.

"I admire you. Even with your condition and consecutive bereavements, you remain strong and willing to move forward. Many people who experience what you have become broken and find it difficult to rise again. I pray for your success in Jakarta. I support you, Elsa," the principal said with a smile, extending his hand.

"Thank you, sir. I will do my best there," Elsa said.

After that, Elsa left. She wheeled her wheelchair down the corridor. She turned to look at her class, which was in session, and stopped for a moment, then she continued walking with a smile.

"Bye-bye, annoying creatures," Elsa thought to herself.

Elsa continued to wheel her wheelchair, leaving the school building. But suddenly, "screech," her wheelchair stopped abruptly, and Elsa almost toppled forward. She turned to see Remon holding the handles of her chair.

"Where are you going?" Remon asked.

"None of your business. Let go, or I'll scream," Elsa replied.

Remon released his grip, and Elsa immediately wheeled her wheelchair away, but Remon walked beside her.

"Seriously, where are you going?" Remon asked.

Elsa ignored Remon's question. She wheeled her wheelchair quickly to reach the gate as soon as possible. But suddenly, Remon stood in front of her and spread his arms, forcing Elsa to stop.

"Are you going to move?" Elsa asked, annoyed.

"Answer me first, where are you going?" Remon asked.

"None of your business, I answered you. Now move," Elsa replied.

"You're really annoying, you know. I'm asking you nicely," Remon said, his tone rising.

"So what if I don't want to answer? Where I go is none of your business, understand?" Elsa said in an even higher tone.

"You're really something. Instead of appreciating that I'm willing to be with you even though your legs are gone, you're being rude," Remon said angrily.

"Say that one more time, and I'll really scream. Now move before I get even angrier," Elsa retorted.

"What if I don't want to move?" Remon asked.

Elsa immediately wheeled her wheelchair towards Remon, but Remon caught her wheelchair and threw it, causing Elsa to fall headfirst to the side of the road.

"Hey, what's going on?" a security guard shouted from the gate.

Remon saw the security guard running towards him. He looked at Elsa and immediately walked away, leaving Elsa behind. The security guard immediately helped Elsa and righted her wheelchair, then he carried Elsa to sit back in her wheelchair.

"Are you okay, kid?" the security guard asked.

"I'm fine, sir. Sorry for the trouble," Elsa replied.

"Do you want me to take you somewhere, kid?" the security guard asked.

"No need, sir, I'm okay," Elsa replied.

"Who was that just now? If he causes any more trouble, I'll report him to the teachers," the security guard said.

"It's okay, sir, I'm fine. I'll get going now, sir," Elsa replied.

"Yes, kid, be careful," the security guard replied.

Elsa began to wheel her wheelchair again, tears starting to stream down her red face.

"I'm okay... really... I'm okay... hehehe... really," Elsa thought to herself, forcing a smile.

Elsa wiped her eyes with her arm and continued to wheel, this time genuinely smiling.

"Tomorrow I won't be here. Goodbye, Bandung," Elsa said.

Back to the present, Elsa smiled, hearing the sound of the television in the apartment next door. She listened to the song playing through the wall.

"At least now I have a friend. It felt so lonely yesterday, no one on my right or left, hehe. I have to move forward. I have to succeed, and I will find where Auntie's husband is, then find someone who will be with me forever... if anyone would want a girl with no legs like me, hehe... hiccup... hehe. I miss Mom, Dad, Grandpa, and Grandma... hiccup... hehe," she thought to herself, smiling and crying.

After the sound of the television was no longer audible, Elsa wheeled her wheelchair into her room and changed into her sleepwear, then climbed onto the bed to lie down while reading something on her smartphone.
