The Devil's Bride
By Rapwizzy Debaron
Episode 68: Shattered Echoes
The moonlight filtered through the dense clouds, casting an ethereal glow over the blood-soaked field. Seraphina stood in silence, her hands trembling as she clutched the blade Lucian had gifted her—its edges still glowing faintly with demonic energy. The cries of the dying faded into the background as her heart beat louder, echoing with the truth she had just learned.
Lucian had lied.
The demon king, the man she was bound to, had hidden from her the truth about her lineage. She wasn't just a bride for power. She was born of celestial blood—the last of the Angelis bloodline. A weapon. A threat.
Her entire life had been a pawn's journey on a chessboard controlled by darkness.
"You should rest," came a voice behind her.
She didn't turn. "How long have you known?"
Lucian appeared beside her, his black armor slick with battle grime, his red eyes glowing faintly. "Since the moment I touched you. Your blood sings differently. It doesn't just tempt me—it warns me."
"And you kept it from me," she hissed, voice sharp as a dagger. "Why?"
He looked away, pain flashing across his usually impassive face. "Because I feared you would run. Because I wanted you to choose me—not fate, not power. Just me."
Seraphina's lip trembled. "You wanted me to love you, while building a prison of lies?"
He stepped closer. "Yes. Because I am a fool who never thought he could love… until you."
She stared at him, broken between the heart that still beat for him and the betrayal that crushed it. She dropped the blade to the earth. "Then you've lost me, Lucian. Not because of what I am, but because you never trusted me to be who I am."
And with that, she turned away, wings unfurling—brilliant silver-white against the night—leaving the Devil King in the shadows.
But behind her, an ancient voice stirred in the wind.
"The war is coming, child of the heavens. And your heart will be the battlefield."
To be continued…
