Ezra's eyes widened slightly in shock, while the woman looked up at him, her gaze trembling slightly as she asked, "Do you… need me to bite harder, Mr. Hale?"
When she heard his voice just now, she panicked even more.
First, she owed him for the taxi fare, then he'd lent her money at the betting center two days ago.
They weren't large sums, so she could easily cover them once the match result was announced. But if she also had to pay for his suit, she'd have nothing left.
Hence, she didn't care that it was a bizarre thing to ask someone to bite them and did it without question.
She'd do anything not to pay for a brand-new suit!
Tickled by her breath on his hand, Ezra's eyes softened. "You're not a dog."
Ayla paused, a million and one thoughts running through her mind as she automatically assumed he was displeased.
She's not a dog? Did that mean she wasn't biting properly?
Perhaps this was a coded way of asking her to bite harder?
