Watching Ariel fall, a huge puddle of blood circling her head, Ayla froze, a shrill sound going off in her head before she took a step forward.
The next hour passed in a blur, and the next time she came to, she was sitting outside an operating room.
Despite how quiet the waiting room was, the ticking of the wall clock filtered into her ears, and her blood pounded in her veins.
"Excuse me, miss?"
She jerked up at the sight of shoes in front of her.
Seeing it was a young female doctor, she hurriedly got up.
"Is she going to be alright?"
The doctor didn't respond and asked instead, "Can I know your relationship to the patient, ma'am?"
"Uhm… distant relative. How is she? She's going to be fine, right?"
"What about an immediate family?"
"I called them during the surgery. They're on their way. Is she going to be alright?"
The doctor paused, her eyes traveling down Ayla's bloodied body and hands before she began.
