They were bundled out for 278, the by 79th over.
We had about 11 overs to bat, which our openers did well.
We ended the day's play at 21/0 (11)
they played very defensively but it was fine, becauze that's exactly how you play test cricket.
But, than again... Is 278 a good score? Considering the pitch is as flat as a highway?
The ball is doing absolutely nothing.
no spin, seam, swing.
Nothing... So, i Don't really think 278 is a good score honestly.
The average 1st innings score here should be atleast 450+.
Whatever the case...
With the start of the 2nd day... we'd lost 2 wickets after the 37th over.
And, i was coming in a bit of a tricky situation.
But, it's good nonetheless.
getting around 92 and losing only 2 wickets, it's a good start, because it seems like the pitch is doing things, considering the people aren't that comfortable defending.
...
What... That hit the middle of the bat.
The pitch... it's a road.
An absolute road, It's coming onto the bat well... too well actually...
Why's everyone having such a hard time defending...
Aah... maybe, that's the reason...
These people Don't really know much about the defence technique.
They are struggling because they aren't used to defending balls that are nipping around a bit.
...
After the end of the 1st session of day 2 we were 102/4.
Yes, in a span of 2 overs... our team lost 2 more wickets.
The speed of overs rotation is quite good, to be able to finish the allotted 30 overs in the required time...
That's some good captaincy.
...
Hmm... Hmm... Hmm...
We were 7 down for 132 by the end of the 1st hour of the 2nd session...
Why are they having such a hard time? I'm not having such a hard time.
Considering i was shit against out swinging balls, I'm doing a great job.
I'm 11/42.
Meaning, I'm 11 runs off 42 balls.
It's definately nipping around, but not so much that it'd make such a bad problem to even bat properly.
Especially when considering they would hit such balls for sixes.
There's no doubt about it, they aren't able to gauge the ball due to it's difference.
And on top of that their... defence sucks.
No wonder they Don't even play test.
...
"Shit, Why's this so hard?"
The captain sighed...
We were all out for 197 and i scored good runs by the end.
I got a 50/117.
But i couldn't contribute more becauze there was a royal collapse.
we are on a trial by 81 runs.
And the opposition came to bat again with 9 overs to go for day 2.
...
*Nick*
*Catch*
I threw the ball in the air in joy, as we wnded the day by taking 2 wickets and the last wicket came off a nick straight to me.
Am i glad, that we ended the day on a high.
...
Aah, It was the start of day 3.
By the end of the 1st session, the opposition managed to score a quick 120 runs and lost 3 wickets.
Now they were currently at 137/5.
So it's obviously our win.
It was our session, because we got those crucial 3 wickets and by the end of the 1st Session we had the upper hand with 5 wickets.
But, the problem was... the lead had exceeded 200.
The lead right now was 218, and only 5 down didn't didn't make thinks easier.
So, maybe we didn't have the upper hand.
...
Shit... half an hour into the 3rd session, we bundled them out for 242 but the problem was...
The target for us exceeded 300...
It was only the 3rd day but still...
We had 2 more days to bat... so we couldn't draw this...
It's either their win or ours...
...
Aah... am i glad that we have such reliable openers.
They together stitched a partnership of 92 runs and than the 1st wicket was gone.
Than the 2nd wicket partnership stitched around 37 until thr one playing well got out.
Leading to a score of 129/2
with a target of 323, There were 194 more runs required.
and than it was time for I to come in.
I played my usual game.
Since it was swinging, I took the off stump guard and played only the inswing and those balls which were too full.
Either on the half volley area or a full toss which is quite rare.
It was the end of the 3rd day's 3rd and final session.
The score was 178 in the 60 overs that they bowled.
And, things were getting easy to bat now.
after the 70 overs mark, tomorrow morning would be the perfect time to attack and bring the deficit down to atleast 50-60 runs by the start of the new ball.
Because, That's probably where the actual meyham will start.
If we don't lose any wickets and win the match properly... than things wouldn't be such a problem.
...
We went into bat with about 145 more to get.
After the end of 69th over... We both went ahead and decided to play aggressively.
We got 30 runs in the 60-70th overs.
So the deficit was down to 115.
And we didn't lose any wicket.
Our job was to be aggressive until one of us get's out so the people after us Don't have a problem.
We'd made a partnership of 80, we were more than capable of hitting big with facing around 300+ balls together.
And so, the first ball i got was a good length ball, I tired timing the ball into the gap between cover and extra cover.
The timing was good but the placement wasn't so, it went straight to the fielder.
This time, i guided the ball past the 2nd slip and towards 3rd man.
Took a single.
...
*Slam*
A rank Half volley and i drove it through point and extra cover.
This time both timing and placement were great and i... crossed the 50 mark with that shot.
and we eventually Won the match.
