Chapter 3 - 3.

I didn't finished my drink of course, I even spilled everything over the bar.

"Come and play with us," the guy on the back ordered and put his big hand on my shoulder.

I shook my head but he pulled me harder making me almost fall, then I felt something piercing my back, it was a knife.

"Don't make this difficult to us."

I was afraid but I followed. When they led me to the hotel on the next road I knew that this would not end good. Anyway, my life would not get any better. I would never. I don't care anymore.

However, I have to say that I have taken classes on self defense and other martial arts before. Well, more like I was forced to take them alongside Emily. She was always hit on by multiple guys, and one of my duties was to help her deal with the stupid guys or jealous girls that always threw a punch at the side character called me.

I needed to learn how to deal with punches, throws and physical pain. So, before long, I became quite an expert at numbing pain while in a fight. Well, of course, those times, it was nothing this dangerous, I was not alone, and Emily used to always win somehow. Now, I was not sure I could free myself.

When we were walking through the corridor of one of the highest floors. I did it.

As I said before, I didn't care about anything anymore. My life was a disaster. My expectations were done. I would never be better at anything, and I don't have friends, and my family doesn't care about me really. If I die today, the world will never notice.

So, I will decide how things end. I hit the stupid guy on my side with my heel on his foot the hardest I could. I pierced his shoe deeply making him sweat in pain. Then I kicked the balls of the other guy and threw my bag to the other guy, then I ran. If they had guns and shoot then it was over, if they didn't then I would fight till they killed me. But, before they stopped me, there was an open door, an empty room. This… I didn't know that this day will be my only lucky day. Then I closed the door and locked it. At this moment I let my tears leave my eyes.

I heard punches, screams, threats outside.

"Stupid bitch, come outside now!"

"Better be obedient, or our boss will turn you into pieces."

"Get out!"

"Break the fucking door!"

They were about to break in but then I dialed the police from the hotel's phone and put it on speaker. They heard.

When the police arrived, they had already left. The hotel's staff apologized to me, but I knew that they didn't care in the first place.

"Will you be alright?" some officer said and I nodded. I was still shaking. "Will you make a statement at the police station?"

I thought about it, but then… I didn't want anyone to know about this. Though, my parents won't care.

"I'm sorry, can you let it go? I was scared and I don't know who they were."

The officer nodded and said that he will be at the reception till I calmed down. I said I was okay a couple more times, thanking him and asking him to leave.

I also was about to leave, but again, something happen.

Maybe my stupid fate was telling me to stop acting like a fool, caring about people that didn't love me and I was still thinking that they did, and I was not talking about my parents.

I was a distrustful and low self esteem person, depressed about everything, with negative attitude, and many others adjectives that didn't fit a social, admirable person.

"You are Jena Lars," a man said when I was lost in my thoughts and waiting for the lift to arrive.

I turned to see him. Do you remember the guy I had a crush in middle school? My first love? There he was. Nathan Reed.

Tall, handsome, confident. I remembered that I admired him because of that. He was also a genius, too smart for our ordinary school, with an attractive face, with masculine factions but without loosing the elegance. Now he seemed a lot more mature in that customized and expensive suit.

Well it is not my business. After he and his group of friend made me a joke and friendless in middle school, I only looked at him with nothing else than discomfort. Even when it was a marvel to watch his handsome appearance, I was not enthusiastic, instead, I would give anything to run from him that moment.

"Do you remember me?" he said with a little smirk in his lips. His bluish eyes were deeply watching me.

I didn't want to say that I did, but I stared too long for me to mention that I didn't.

"Nathan Reed, " I ended up saying.

He smiled, or laughed, I didn't know but I wanted to escape that moment.

He moved forward when the lift arrived and I had no other choice but to enter too. He didn't say a word neither I. Finally the first floor arrived and before I knew it I was at the hotel's reception asking for a phone to call my parent's driver.

"Thank you," I said to the receptionist. "Have a good night."

"You wouldn't want to leave," I heard his masculine voice again behind me, "that would be dangerous."

I was not confused. Those criminals might be waiting for me outside. But I had already called my parent's driver so…

"They are not ordinary guys," he said guessing my thoughts, "they are mafia."

I was not expecting that. I mean they mentioned a boss, but that…

"You are now a target," he said as if it was amusing to scare me.

But I was tired and heartbroken. My mind was drifting to other thoughts again. Even in danger, I wanted to sleep and maybe never wake up.

"Stay here," he said. I didn't know when he came near enough to touch my hand and press his lips on my fingers. "Come to my room till they leave. It is safer."

"I… what?"
